Dr. Lafemina in the Pulmonary Dept is extremely engaged and considerate. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to thoroughly explain the function of the lungs, as well as to review any Imaging Scan and Lab Tests. He exudes confidence and, as a patient, you feel 'in good hands'.
Health practitioners need to be more knowledgeable about the outdated use of BMI as an indicator of “health”, particularly for women. It’s outdated, sexist and racist, at best. They should also be better informed about women’s hormones and how greatly they affect them, especially when working often with peri and menopausal females. Additionally, before labeling any patient/client as “obese”, a person’s health history, including eating disorders and diet history, which often leads to fat gain, weight increase and an increase in weight set point. The M D was very professional, did the job well, (surgical removal of a cancer on face) and I would recommend him to anyone. The whole appt, from waiting room to discharge went very well.
