We had a very thorough well-child visit for our two children. The receptionist was friendly throughout a very lengthy on-boarding procedure. The nurses and pediatrician were great with a very respectful and warm bedside manner.
I'm a patient of Dr. Ogawa and she's great as are the nurses there. They are always efficient and helpful and super nice. Very competent. The downside is it is virtually impossible to get a new patient appointment for adults. Been trying to get my husband an appointment for weeks. Today the voicemail just said call back in 30 minutes for 90 minutes, which I continued to do till they changed the voicemail and allowed you to sit on hold for 30 minutes waiting for a person to answer - which never happened. When I call the San Mateo location, they refer me back to this number. How much time does one have to spend to get an adult patient an appointment? It's insane. Once you're in, everything is super easy to schedule via the app. I could make an appointment for myself today for later this week. No problem. The initial patient process is beyond tedious and frustrating. Especially as we were forced to move based on insurance changing and now my husband cannot get an appointment to save his life. (All he needs is preventative baseline care at this point to avoid some future calamity.)
My PCP and my kids’ pediatrician are in the office. They are so patient, knowledgeable, always base their feedback/advice on latest literature. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Also, having access to the broader UCSF system in case of specific issue is great.
