About UCSF Cancer Center San Mateo

The UCSF Cancer Center in San Mateo provides cancer care in a setting designed to be less intimidating and not too "hospitally," located in a lovely area with trees. Patients report receiving excellent care and feel very cared for and fully informed by their providers. The oncologists are described as having a friendly bedside manner and explaining treatment plans in a thorough, logical manner. The staff, including medical assistants and receptionists, are consistently noted as being kind, helpful, warm, and welcoming. While the experience of seeking cancer treatment is emotionally tender, the center makes it much more bearable. Patients express strong trust in their providers and feel they are in capable hands, with some noting seamless continuity through a management change. The overall sentiment is that the UCSF Cancer Center will take great care of anyone needing its services.

I have received excellent care from Dr Kent Adler and chemo from their providers at this site. Always felt very cared for and fully informed. Reviews for oncologists and cancer treatment offices are difficult. It's a tender emotional experience and it takes time to establish trust in a provider relationship, which unfortunately not everyone has. I received care when it was California Cancer Care and when UCSF took over and didn't see a change. The setting is purposely in a lovely strip mall with trees in the chemo windows, so that it can be part of a normalized experience. Not too "hospitally". Wishing anyone reading reviews comfort and a good experience in their journey, whatever it may be.

Coming to a cancer center can be the most intimidating experience in the world, but UCSF CC makes it much more bearable! Dr. Kent Adler was great; friendly bedside manner, and explained the plan in a thorough, logical manner. The medical assistants and receptionists were also very warm and welcoming. I hope no one ever finds themselves in a position where they need an oncologist or hematologist, but should that be the case, UCSF CC will take great care of you.
