I saw this artist's work at the Laguna Beach Festival of Fine Arts yesterday evening and purchased one of these exquisite pieces in a marquise shape, with tiny gears within it. The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, and the piece is stunning--and so unusual. I love the fact that all of his necklaces have components that move, making them visually interesting and unique. Mr. Brun was lovely to deal with and patiently assisted me and my companions in trying on several of his creations.

As a fourth generation jeweler, Ive owned a highend retail jewelery store, traveled this half of the United States as a top manufacturers sales rep and worked in upper management running a large high end jewelery manufacturing corporation. (Im now turning grey and happily retired) Therefore, I always seek out the jewelery booths whenever I'm at the Laguna Beach Arts Festival. Sometimes I'm fairly impressed and often I just look, smile and then move on. However, on my last several trips (including todays trip) I was simply "Blown Away" by one jeweler! Roberto Brun is a true... Artist/Craftsman. Just compare his work to anything you've ever seen jewelery wise... ever! Let me state for the record, I'd never before met him or his daughter outside the art festival. I dont know him nor do I have any ties too or with him in any way. I just appreciate Fine Art in the form of jewelery. Especially when its combined with amazing, next level craftsmanship! This man is a gift to those of you with financial means. I also try to attend the Jewelery Industry's biggest trade show almost every year. You cant see it all in the few days that it exists each year. It's HUGE! (You also cant get in unless you can prove you own a legitimate business in the industry or are invited to attend by someone showing there) The best of the best display the newest, most amazing designs each year. Its an overwhelming experience! However, I've never seen anything like Roberto Brun's work at that show! His designs are singularly unique! High-end art you get to wear and enjoy! This artist can spend months of his life designing and painstakingly manufacturing just one piece! The best part is, almost all his items actually move and draw you in! Workmanship like this is simply not available at any price in this day and age! I urge everyone to spend a few minutes drinking in this man passion and genius! The fortunate few of you with some extra money in the bank may be lucky enough to actully own one of his masterpieces! (I dont use that word lightly) Enjoy his work and be thankful you ever even got to see it! ENJOY!!!

To begin, I feel it is important to point out that I am not a personal friend of Roberto Brun. I have never talked with him outside the Festival of the Arts, on the phone or in person, nor have I even spotted him on his way to or from his display. That having been said, my experience of Mr. Brun has been exactly the opposite of the one you relate. I have been familiar with his unique kinetic jewelry for seven or eight years. I generally prefer much larger artwork like that of Jon Seemans, Kate Cohen, Marlo Bartels, Randy Badet or Sandra Jones Campbell. I am not generally a fan of jewelry or gemstones and I don't typically haunt jewelers' booths at the Festival of the Arts, But I have come to make a point to seek out Roberto Brun's display each summer to see what he has introduced that is new. He never disappoints. I invariably take my companions to Brun's display expressly to point out to them his polished and precision bits of gem-encrusted mechanical magic. I will leave it to you Yelpers to go check out his work for yourselves. More to the point here, you have nothing to fear from Mr. Brun. I have chatted with him in his booth about gemstones, jewelry and his art on a number of occasions. I assure you and all the other little Yelpers reading this that he has been uniformly helpful, accommodating and friendly to me every single time. I can only wonder what you must have said to piss him off! Folks, don't pay any attention to this disgruntled reviewer. Most of all, you owe it to yourself to take the opportunity to experience his uniquely designed and exquisitely executed works of srt. I feel quite sure you will agree after seeing it that his work warrants five stars. Or six.
