SF PET HOSPITAL, is a very good place to have your pet looked after. Staff is friendly and services are priced to keep money in your pocket. The Veterinarians are informative and work with a budget.***** ExcellentStreet parking only one block off the Muni 5 line at Divisadero

Lots of recent changes here, but the new staff is still great. Appointments are in high demand so if you think you need one, call early. The desk staff is very helpful but it's also a very busy practice. Saw Dr Villard today and had a very good, knowledgeable experience with my complicated case.

I've never written a Yelp review in my 13 years of having an account. This should show how utterly FANTASTIC Dr Geldert and the team at SF Pet Hospital are. 2 weeks ago, we adopted a very skittish and scared 1 year old dog. She's had some rough experiences in her past life, and has some anxiety and fear issues which manifested as tummy trouble (will spare details here). We had an appointment with another vet in the city and I called them for advice. Their advice was simple - chicken, rice, and a few tbsp of pumpkin puree should cure it up. Try it for a week; and, if it doesn't help, call back. We started the bland diet last Saturday. It helped a little, then our dog regressed by Thursday. By this time, I had scheduled a new patient appointment at SF Pet Hospital since they're closer to where we live. On Thursday evening, I called SF Pet and explained the situation. Immediately, the vet tech who answered the phone scheduled us for an emergency appointment the next morning at 8am, as there was some cause for concern that there could be more going on. I was so nervous to take our fearful dog to the vet so soon after we adopted her, as the plan was to take her in after she'd had a bit more time to acclimate to her new environment. But, my anxiety went out the window when we brought our dog into their office. The front desk staff got us right into a room, and the vet tech (I wish I remembered her name!) that prepped us for the appointment was kind and compassionate. She asked me follow up and clarifying questions when I explained what was going on. When Dr Geldert arrived in the room, our dog was still in her crate. Dr Geldert got right down on the ground when she entered the room to have a look at our pup. She spoke to me with such calmness and collectedness, I knew that it was going to be okay. Dr Geldert's amiability, good humor, and intelligence also helped me process the situation. I'd be remiss if I didn't say that I was nervous and anxious about the situation, too, just like our dog. She spoke to me with such directness and was so thorough with her exam. Our dog even let Dr Geldert pet her! Dr Geldert also quickly saw how anxious our pup was. Without asking, she also prescribed some anxiety medication, should we need it in the future. I seriously appreciated this. We also dropped off a sample for some tests. Their office is closed tomorrow for some remodel work, but Dr Geldert told me she'd check the results of our dog's sample and email me from her home. I have nothing but gratitude for the SF Pet Hospital team. Thank you for your care and for your help! We look forward to being your clients for a long time to come!
