(BTW, the credit card charges other reviews complain about is the result of someone hacking their business account, and not under any control of Midline).Jay is an amazing trainer to work with, getting results out of my 59-year-old self even my cardiologist noticed on sight. Training in a small gym on your own allows for fast movement between equipment and keeping up a pace that I never would have appreciated until I tried it. Starting here was one of the smartest things I've ever done.
It has taken me a while to write this review - a year. I feel bad writing negative reviews, but I myself find negative reviews helpful when I'm researching something, so just contributing to the community. I did 3 sessions with Jason - Jason is a nice enough guy, but I was testing trainers out - I wasn't ready to commit to him or any trainer yet (I was post surgery/foot injury, and planning to go to a trainer for months, potentially years, so I wanted to do my diligence) - When Jason found out that he wasn't the only trainer I was working with, he got really mad at him. I felt like a child being scolded - I thought this was a terrible way to treat a client, I expected better customer service, especially considering I was paying $100 per session. I ultimately felt too uncomfortable to continue training with Jason after the incident... I mean he made me feel really shitty, as if I had done something awful - BUT when I spoke to other trainers, they thought the response was strange and that it's not uncommon for people to test out more than 1 trainer - Especially considering I had only had a total of 3 sessions with him. I'd likely score my experience here lower than a 3 (I wouldn't go here again - esp now that I've had more experience with trainers, and know what works and doesn't work for me), but I don't want to bring down the gym's average. I just wanted to share my experience in case it was helpful for anyone as they research - when I was first looking for a trainer I was so lost and confused, reviews helped me so much! The good news is - I did find a great trainer, someone who's style worked for me... Jason may be great for someone else, just didn't work for me.
I have been going to Midline for over two years now. Jason is super welcoming and the gym has everything you need. It's a true Cole Valley gem. I had surgery last fall, and being able to come down to Midline to ride the stationary bike and stretch made my rehab so much better. Also, Jason and his wife are super active in the community-- this is a great place to come and hear about upcoming events (like the Cole Valley Fair, which they helped sponsor and organize). Grateful to have found Midline!
