Beware: They lied about the denial of waiver of $700. Fee to the city and tried to get me to pay them the extra fee. Located in the Mission District. This company pulled a couple slippery moves on me i think because they knew i was in Texas at the time i had to make the arrangements. They must have thought i would not double check on their actions. Once they told me my request was denied, i drove 2 days directly to the city medical examiners office to check on the denial of my request for waiver of the $700 paymment to the city. The City Medical Examiner office told me, "that fee was already waived a couple days and there was never a second submission of forms”...read full review
I had such a bad experience with Duggan/College Chapel. The initial person I spoke with was kind and knowledgeable. The funeral director cancelled my first appointment from a Friday to a Monday. There was a waiver they needed from next of kin to allow the partner to take care of the cremation. Danielle wanted multiple "hoops" jumped through - notaries, witnesses, etc for a waiver that was already signed and sent. She did not like that it said funeral not cremation - but it was the hospitals understanding that cremation services are part of what funeral homes supply. So basically Danielle did not like the verbiage. Also there is a thing now called Docusign? Their rules include antiquated ways of obtaining signatures. She wanted her form with her rules completed even though I explained the reason for the waiver was that the next of kin was not in an area where these things were easily accessed nor did they have any desire to do more than maybe sign a waiver. She said because the next of kin signed the waiver - now they needed these things done and could not go with the reason "the next of kin was not responding" - which allows them to move on to the next person. The next of kin did respond and they waived their rights but because of her issue with the verbiage - another 10 days of waiting would have to incur. So basically - everything was ready to go but she wanted a better "word". She never once said sorry for your loss or anything like that. She did however bash the hospital and explain how this is an ongoing issue with them. I really don't need to hear about issues you have with communication and how apparently this is an ongoing issue. Clearly they still have not been resolved and are effecting multiple loved ones who have recently deceased loved family. She was not sensitive at all and did not give solutions - only insisted on her rules even if unobtainable. This was a horrible experience during a horrible time. I would not give them any of your time - it would be a waste.
