This is the shop next to the Chinese Fortune Cookie Factory on Ross Alley.
Please do not make any purchases from Amy- the woman with the red hair who also owns the salon. The jewelry is a very poor value and I was stupid enough to buy two pieces from her.
There are many honest business owners you can support in Chinatown- not Amy's Hair Shop.
The jewelry stand next to the Chinese fortune cookie factory is run by Amy's Hair Shop. PLEASE watch out for the lady (pictured cutting hair; usually has red hair) who is usually outside trying to hustle her pieces- I have now purchased two different pieces of jewelry, and I will never return. I walk by this place multiple times a day to and from my office nearby. I should've learned my lesson when a bracelet I purchased got wet and stained a porcelain countertop I put it on irreparably. Wanting to support a local business, I returned seeking a chain for a piece of jewelry with sentimental value. The pictured lady played the game where she spoke perfect English at first and then miraculously forgot her English when I took out my card, and then whipped out the perfect English when I indicated I did not have enough cash to make the purchase. I rolled my eyes at the claims of the "really good deal!" she was giving me and bit my tongue at the additional charge for using my card that she DID NOT MENTION- I gave her $10 cash and paid $5.60 on my card for a chain that absolutely was not worth $15. I have now lost TWO pieces because the cheap chain this woman sold me became undone before I finally learned my lesson and took it off for good. While this was 100% my fault for wanting to support a (I thought trusted) local small business, I can guarantee I'll never return, leave this review, and share my experience with all the tourists I bring through Ross Alley. You sure thought you were getting over on a tourist for fifteen bucks- was it worth it?
$15 (including tip) for a very neat, walk-in haircut. And to top it off, Amy is sooo nice. It's a welcome break from the $50 haircuts I've been getting in financial district. Marginal difference isn't worth the $35.
