San Diego Aikikai has been the institution to represent traditional Japanese style teaching of Aikido in San Diego. Aikido is a martial art and as such has a martial approach in it's philosophy, but one of the tenets is to seek ways to avoid conflict. This dojo and the instructors associated with it represent that philosophy as passed down from our principal instructors.

From San Diego Aikikai

San Diego Aikikai is a school of traditional Aikido, as taught by our teacher and Birankai founder, Kazuo Chiba Shihan, 8th dan (1940-2015). We offer classes in Aikido body arts, weapons, iaido and zazen meditation. All San Diego Aikikai teachers are certified by Birankai North America and our ranks are certified by the Aikikai Federation, Hombu Dojo, Tokyo, Japan.
