Took my Father to his Dr appointment. It's been a long time since I was last here when he had a surgery. I was grateful they were successful last time performing a rare procedure and saving his eye. Its nice to see have been many improvements with the facilities. The staff was very kind. The only thing is there is a wait for each step of an appointment. We were there for at least 2 1/2 hours. It would be nice to see more volunteers helping the veterans find what location their appointment is at, etc. as I witnessed a few veterans lost or sitting a long time but couldn't hear their name being called. But overall, my Dad is happy and taken care of. I appreciate that.

I believe that bad mouthing VA has became a "fad" unfortunately. The truth is, man and woman of this facility really do work hard and care for us well, especially when disgruntled veteran makes their day even better. Many will point out their unhappy trips, but for me their members are always there to help me as best as they can even if my dumb @$$ breaks a leg, and as long as I'm not a giant Richard to them I always get treated good. Thank you to ALL VA workers. sincerely combat vet.

Went in for some routine testing today and as always, the VA medical Center in La Jolla has been great. Quick tip: if you have morning lab tests that need to be done, go in between 8:30 and 9:30 am, if possible. There's usually less people in the waiting room and it will allow you to get in and out quickly. If you go first thing in the morning when they open, there's usually a line.All of the doctors nurses and hospital staff are helpful. If you have questions or need assistance, just ask the front desk and they can lead you in the right direction. There's never a problem finding parking here. When you enter the lot area, just turn left into the multi-level covered parking structure. It will keep your car cool and the walk to the main entrance is very short.It's good to see my fellow vets getting the care they need and it's always a pleasure meeting other vets who have served.
