Suzuki piano lessons allow children to learn naturally by observation and imitation in order to train the ear and hands to obtain basic tonal and rhythmic competency before bringing the process of decoding written music. Repetition is the key to this mastery based method which allows for constant progression, leading to greater ownership of their skills and continued enjoyment. Parents should expect to sit with their student at the Suzuki lessons to take notes and video what has been constructed in each lesson. Parents are an important part of the Suzuki triangle. Instituting a listening program in the home of the Suzuki recordings is essential. The Suzuki recordings are the greatest tool outside of the private piano lesson.

I struggled with a 3 or a 4. But they push recitals which I think is great and I like the suzuki way of teaching. My son loves his teacher which is really important. I don't feel like the teacher is invested in my son getting better for example some time he walks away without any idea what to practice. But I simply chime in asking what the goal for practice is and she readily gives direction.
I was older when I took some lessons from SPA and did just fine. The teacher was so patient and gentle with me. I wasn't enrolled long but was impressed enough to make a life long commitment and all four of my children are still at SPA working hard, advancing well, and most of all loving their teachers. My children started at 4 years old and are now 5, 9, 11, and 13. SPA is my home away from home, lol, but seriously, they are family and are kind and patient with my children's learning and mastering their abilities to play the piano. Thanks to SPA my kids are happy and well rounded.
