very unprofessional, ordered three skylights that he said would be here in two weeks , three weeks latter he tells me there another three weeks out BS he never ordered them. never answers the phone or returns texts, it's like pulling teeth to ge a response, go somewhere else.
I would recommend this company for skylights and the tube skylights. My two bathrooms are in the center of my house with no windows to the outside. Harlan Smith and his son installed a skylight in one and a tube skylight in the other. Both rooms have enough light now I don't have to turn on any lights in the day time. How nice is that? They did excellent work matching texture. People always think there is a light on!!! Now I'm thinking of having a skylight in my kitchen!
We worked with Harlan Smith skylights on 2 occasions, and have been overwhelmingly pleased with the level of service and professionalism we experienced. We were likewise impressed with the price and warranty. We initially found out about them from our next-door neighbor who worked with them many years ago and had a great experience with their skylights. One of the main reasons we selected them was that they had expertise in how to avoid leaks to get the best seal. And they came highly recommended. The results of their work transformed our dark cave-like house into a light-filled happy home. For the first project, Harlan and Patrick worked together to install a total of 4 skylights. They were trustworthy and extremely careful around our kids. After they looked at our rooms, roof and attic space, they talked with us about our goals and how we planned to use the rooms, and they suggested a plan for the design. After considering several options for layout, we agreed to 2 large skylights with solar powered blinds in both our "Great Room" and our master bedroom. We received other bids, but the competition did not come close on price or warranty. We were so happy with the work they did on the skylights in the Great room and master, we hired them again to install solar tubes in our kitchen. While we initially wanted to install skylights, after looking at our attic space and roof line, they advised that it was not going to be possible to install skylights in that spot but that solar tubes would bring in a lot of light. Because we had already built up a level of trust, we followed their guidance and decided on solar tubes. In addition to installing the two solar tubes, they designed a beautiful light well that had recessed lighting for the evening time. They were careful to find out what kind of light we wanted and kept in mind that I was light-sensitive and suggested a type of LED bulb that would be warm without emitting a harsh hue. We wanted to avoid the look of a morgue. Another impressive part about the level of service they provided was that initially when we had our solar tubes put in, after about a month, one had to be redone. They were very responsive and came out to address the issue. Patrick had a solution right away and knew exactly what needed to be done. When they had initially installed it, they weren't sure whether to do it Patrick's way or the other way, and Patrick proved to be correct in terms of what needed to be done to ensure that the solar tube stayed set in place. Harlan and Patrick are father and son and work very well together, and I only hope that when my kids are grown up, I have as good of a rapport as those two do. Another plus factor of working with them was that they knew that our kids loved dogs. After I found out that they had a Doxie named Woody, I begged them to bring him over to our house when they had to install the last part of the solar tubes. I promised I would watch the dog while they did the work, and said it would be a great way to see how my kids would handle having a dog for half a day. It ended up being a profound experience for my family and a really fun time for Woody as well. We learned that we were in fact ready to get a small dog. Overall it was almost as if Harlan and Patrick were a part of our family. I felt comfortable leaving them alone in our home without us there and felt that they were extremely trustworthy. Not to mention the fact that they did an amazing job installing beautiful skylights and beautiful solar tubes. I would not hesitate recommending them to others who want to install skylights or solar tubes. Obviously the fact that we worked with them twice is proof positive that we were happy customers. We have done remodels of 2 homes and have had extensive experience working with a variety of contractors through the years. Overall, Harlan Smith and his son Patrick provide an amazing level of service and are great at what they do. Their workmanship is stellar! Sometimes it takes time to get on their schedule, but when you want to work with the best,
