"Professional Care by World Class Staff" We usually go to San Ramon Regional hospital, but because of an emergency, my wife was brought via ambulance to this hospital. This time, we got to experience the emergency room, Critical Care Unit, regular hospital, pulmonary specialists, physical therapist, respiratory therapist--You name it, we got it. This is a well-run hospital, with World Class Medical staff. Honestly, it would be hard to find a better hospital. My only complaint is that the cafeteria closes too early! Thank you for providing a world-class asset to our town.
We had our 4th & final baby here in 2023 after having our previous 3 at Eden in Castro Valley. This hospital wasn't horrible but I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The Dr's/nurses were nice & very caring, so that's what's most important. However the hospital was very run down & dirty, the recovery rooms were tiny, we were basically put in a closet. There was wads of hair and an old chip under the bed as if it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. The paint was chipping off the walls & when housekeeping did come the woman wiped down the inside of the sink, & then proceeed to wipe down the counter with the same towel. I'm glad I happened to bring my own disinfectants. No one washed their hands here, instead they just put on gloves, which I guess is ok. We left as soon as we possibly could 24 hours later. As I said, the Dr's & nurse's were all around pretty great but we definitely didn't have a very positive experience here due to the cleanliness & the size of the rooms.
Stanford Health Care is an outstanding institution for patients, with a dedicated healthcare team that provides exceptional care. As a patient, I would want to receive treatment here without hesitation. However, as an employee in the Environmental Services Department, I feel compelled to share some challenges that we face behind the scenes. Many of us in this department find it difficult to wear smiles while we work, not because we lack pride in our roles, but because we are struggling to hold ourselves together. There have been instances of workplace harassment, unfair workload distribution, and unequal treatment. Some workers seem to receive every opportunity, while others are left overwhelmed and unsupported. In some cases, we are expected to work through breaks, creating a heavy strain on both mental and physical well-being. Furthermore, issues of confidentiality have surfaced, and personal employees medical information has been exposed to coworkers--violations that have only added to the stress of an already challenging environment. These concerns are deeply troubling, especially in a place that should prioritize the well-being of all who walk through its doors, patients and staff alike. It is heartbreaking to say that many of us have had to turn to medical interventions just to cope with the work environment. While the focus on patient care is admirable, there is a serious need to address the lack of care and consideration for employees. There was a time when this was an amazing place to work. I believe Stanford Health Care has the potential to be that place again if they reconsider their decision to outsource (Environmental Services)management (Sodexo) and restore a sense of balance and fairness in the workplace. Employee care is just as important as patient care, and I hope this message reaches those who can make a difference.
