Chad was very professional and provided a lot of expertise for what would look good in our home. He communicated with us in all aspects of the project and was always punctual. His custom work and attention to detail was amazing and we are so happy with our beautiful staircase railing!
Our 22-year-old carpeted stairs were absolutely horrible and embarrassing. Even recarpeting was going to cost thousands of dollars, and we have dogs so I didn't want to do that again. But I had such a struggle trying to find someone to do wooden stairs, as they were just subfloor underneath so I needed all-new treads. Every contractor I tried either doesn't do stairs, wanted to completely demolish the staircase and start over (!!), or never called back. Enter Chad DeShields! From day one he was a pleasure to deal with (bonus: he loves dogs). He understood what we wanted, responded promptly, gave us a reasonable estimate, did the work with extreme precision and neatness, completed it promptly, and addressed a couple of minor issues with consummate professionalism. The hardwood treads he crafted are just beautiful. The molding and other small touches add so much to the appearance. His colleague Israel stained the treads, sanded and stained our original banister railing, painted all the molding, and did it all with wonderful attention to detail, neatness, and respect for our home. We could not be more pleased with the result! Chad is a master craftsman, the likes of which are rare in today's world. Your house will be the better for his work.
Love love love my new stairs. (Originally carpet and maple). Chad is fantastic to work with (our dog loves him too) and super good at his work. Reasonable pricing too. Think these will add way more to the value of my house than the cost. Plus, did I mention that I love them? The project took longer than expected but only due to the difficulty in getting the metal railings shipped here. Worth every penny
