I would absolutely recommend Dr. Waraich he is a wonderful caring kind hearted person and doctor. So hard to find good doctors you can trust. I'm very thankful to Dr. Chamberlin for referring me to him. I appreciate everything he and his staff has done for me. They are amazing and so understanding especially with my situation. Thank you so much for being so wonderful Dr. Waraich. I think you are an amazing doctor and I think anyone that goes to him will feel the same. You are the best rheumatologist I could ask for! May you all have a really beautiful day!
It's not often that you get to write this in a Yelp review, but I credit Dr. Waraich for quite literally saving my life. Long story short, I developed what we now think was the start of an autoimmune disease called Sjogren's Syndrome after a long period of severe work stress during 2020. It's when your body attacks your salivary glands and tear ducts, and the main manifestation is extreme dry mouth. As it came on quite suddenly I had no idea how to deal with it or how disabling it would turn out to be. The main side-effect (apart from the day-time discomfort) was instant insomnia - and when I say "insomnia" I mean literally not sleeping at all for days on end. No matter how tired I was, no matter how much I exercised or relaxed or tried all the insomnia 'cures' like meditation/ herbals teas/ hot baths before bed etc. etc. - my brain would not let me sleep, as every few minutes my dry mouth would become so uncomfortable I'd crave a sip of water, making it impossible to sleep. Every few nights around 4-5am I'd finally pass out for an hour or two hours (if I was lucky) from sheer exhaustion - then my brain would wake me up with "dry mouth" signals and the cycle would repeat all over again. This went on for about 3 months - I had no idea what was wrong with me and nor did the approximately 8 different specialist medical folk I saw in that time, including my PCP, an oral surgeon, two dentists, and several different ear/nose/throat (ENT) specialist - a couple of of whom told me my problems weren't real and one who actually referred me to a psychiatrist! By this time I was at the end of my rope - I'd lost 20lbs in 90 days from sheer exhaustion, lost my appetite due to dry mouth, and was basically a zombie from sleeping maybe 6 hours TOTAL per week. I had to take almost a month off work because I was almost completely unable to sleep or eat, and was on a path to losing my job, and maybe even my life. Then I was lucky enough to find Dr. Waraich on Yelp, and my world changed for the better. Dr. Waraich listened extremely patiently to my (very!) long story, and then carefully went over all the test results I'd brought with me. Unlike many of the other doctors I'd seen, he came across as a genuinely caring, kind, intelligent, and compassionate person - he asked a lot of questions and expressed sympathy for what I'd been through. That in itself was so incredibly refreshing after months of being dismissed and told that my problems were all in my head! My PCP had tested me for Sjogrens but the test had come back negative, but Dr. Waraich explained that sometimes the disease takes years to show up in blood work. So that explained why my bloodwork was normal, even though I was physically falling apart and barely able to function. In the meantime, Dr. Waraich gave me some medication to help me sleep, and we discussed a Sjogren's medication called Evoxac which helps people with dry mouth issues (sometimes called "sicca syndrome"). I took my first Evoxac pill that week and was amazed when my dry mouth actually went away for a couple of hours! It was life-changing! That night, I also tried the medication for sleep along with half an Evoxac pill, and slept solidly for over 6 hours straight! That might not sound like a lot, but I woke up feeling better than I ever have in my life. Even better, the next day I got a lovely email from Dr. Waraich saying he'd spent some time researching my various symptoms. He recommended several other medications that would help my dry mouth and my sleep. He also ordered a lab test for detecting early Sjogren's, and a test for my B12 level (lack of which can apparently cause something called Burning Mouth Syndrome). The fact that he cared enough to do his own research in his own time on my condition just blew me away. I was (and still am) beyond grateful. Since then I've continued to take Evoxac regularly, and along with the sleep medication, I've magically managed to hang on to my job, my health, an
