Given doctors take the Hippocratic oath and Hippocrates said, "Food is thy best medicine," I highly recommend Dr. Susan Payrovi, who practices functional medicine, mind body medicine, and other alternative methods that have improved my health when drugs caused allergic reactions or didn't work. Inspired by Dr. Payrovi's personal journey to reverse multiple sclerosis with lifestyle medicine, I took her courses to address the some root causes of my health issues ( and evidence-based approaches to Integrative mental health ( in-person and online before and during the pandemic for a few years. While I wasn't the most disciplined at implementing her recommendations, which were more actionable than my typical "evidence-based medicine" doctors and incorporated feedback from her patients, I noticed my vitals improved with lower heart rates (even with minimal exercise except walking), more energy from better sleep, and less stress with a few minutes of mindfulness each day. Given the conflicting info online that confuses me, her step-by-step guidance, ranging from assessments of produce and water quality to what to eat in moderation with more variety from having diverse colors, supplemented with specific vitamins and minerals, was incredibly valuable. Even though I'm no longer her patient (due to moving too far and out of her insurance network), she still cares to help with checking in and local resources. More importantly, she is open-minded to try combining experiential physical, mental, and social activities, ranging from individual meditation chants to group dancing even online. She also tailors her medical visits in the form of courses for general health and specific ailments, ranging from autoimmune diseases to cancer. Your health is priceless. Once you lose it, it's hard to restore it. Words can't describe how grateful I am to have met her, thanks to my endocrinologist referring me to her when she could no longer prescribe drugs that compromised my immune system. I likely wouldn't have survived this long without her holistic and actionable approaches to improving my health from the inside out with simpler, cost-effective, and more impactful remedies than relying solely on drugs, which are curative and warranted in some cases, such as infectious diseases.
Not accepting new patients (the insurance page shows they are, so that’s odd), no waitlist, and then referred to out-of-network provider which defeats the whole purpose of having 12 visits covered per year. Looks good on paper, I agree.
Dr. David Spiegel needs to be barred from attending to anyone with childhood or developmental trauma or CPTSD. He has NO understanding of dissociation caused by trauma and how children repress memories of trauma caused by parents because the truth would destroy them. See him in the Showtime documentary "Buried". For those of us who have studied attachment and trauma he is a gaslighter, causing more harm and abuse to victims, a total disgrace.
