I was given so much support by Pedro Point Creative to start my food booth up at the Millbrae Japanese Cultural festival the last several years. I owe my success to Pedro Point Creative for making it a memorable event. Beautiful commercial kitchen and hosting space is available for small events. Perfect for catering events as well. I would recommend talking to their staff if you are interested in a commercial kitchen.
There are quite a few commercial spaces for entrepreneurs to make food in the bay area but Pedro Point Creative is unique. Its one of the few spaces that you can have ALL to yourself for the whole day (or however many days you schedule) without other food companies crowding you out. The space is a nice size (3 to 4 people can work comfortably) and has a second room that, while officially is a dining room, can also be used as space to wrap food products or have a client meeting while the chefs are busy in the separate kitchen area. It has a great dishwasher, high quality mixers, robocoup, gas range and convection ovens. There are lots of clean towels and all the CA inspected kitchen regulations in place. Its a great place to do culinary experiments, small batch production runs or just host a culinary cooking class. The owner Gheeva is really awesome and helpful. Right around the corner from Pedro Point Creative is a Fresh and Easy supermarket-- this is a great resource because chefs are always running out of supplies-- and Fresh and Easy has lots of commodity products. Big bonus-- right across the street are some Llamas- they belong to a neighbor but are often gazing over in the direction of Pedro Point Creative. It just adds a touch of "only in the bay area" vibe to your PPC visit.
Pedro Point Creative is much more than just a commercial kitchen. It is a beautifully, and thoughtfully designed commercial kitchen, with the addition of being able to have an adjacent event space. I've used the space to hold pie baking workshops, catered food for a board of directors meeting in the event space allowed me to prepare the breakfast and lunch and serve the food all in the same location. The dining/event space is also stocked with table and service ware which is available to rent. It is kept very clean, has detailed instructions for the various renters on how to sort the different waste (recycle, green compost waste, trash), and how to use the equipment, like the dishwasher. Sometimes it is difficult to book the space with limited availability as there are steady renters. All my guests have always been impressed with the space. The kitchen itself is small and can accommodate 2-3 people comfortably with ample counter space to work, so it is not for large-scale catering. The rates are very reasonable.
