This review is not about Dr Ring but his office and appointment system. I scheduled an appointment on line. I received a text saying I they had received my request for appointment. I showed up for my appointment to find a sign on the door that they had moved. I found the new office. Parking was horrible. I had to use a QR code to check in, which didn't work. I got someone to help me and they couldn't find my appointment. I showed them my text from them. After finding me in the system they said they would work me in for an exam but that would be an hour of waiting. I left. I will find a new eye doctor whose office systems actually work.
It makes me genuinely sad for people who have MediCal. When I called to see if they're taking new patients the receptionist, Melanie, was super friendly and said yes when I told her I had insurance. She proceeded to ask if it was through my employer and I told her it was actually through MediCal. She quickly told me she's "so sorry we're not taking new patients at this time". I literally laughed and told her it was fine for her to be honest and say that they're taking new patients as long as they're not MediCal. She started stuttering about how they're inundated, the doctor is 78, blah blah, a bunch of things that matter not to me. I understand how difficult it must be to run, maintain, and afford a medical practice. I have ZERO issue with said office not accepting MediCal, as they likely don't pay enough to make it a good enough return. What I DO have a problem with is so kindly and quickly saying they ARE accepting new patients and DO take my insurance UNTIL MediCal enters the picture. Offer respect to all potential patients by being honest and upfront from the start. Trust me. If the medical insurance situation in this country wasn't broken I'd gladly have insurance through my employer. Alas, we are self employed and struggle with affordable options. I'm not sorry to miss out on this overwhelmed elderly doctor whose receptionist can't offer the proper respect to all community members.
Very rude women working behind the counter. Unprofessional, didn't great me with a smile or ask how I was doing. They all act as if they hated their jobs. After trying to setup an appointment I couldn't take the Unprofessional attitude and walked out. Can't said anything about the Dr. but I can say he needs to get some friendly and professional counter help. I will not be going back, he just lost a customer because of the three mean looking, mean acting and unprofessional women!
