Don't bother if you are sick. I saw Dr. Heifetz for many years. It was usually for well checks, but recently I got really sick. I was so sick that I went to the ER. Last time I went to the ER was 13 years ago when I was in heart failure. I had an upper respiratory infection but I was pretty sure I had a sinus infection also at that point and needed antibiotics. I was severely dizzy and feeling terrible. The ER said if I didn't feel better to follow-up with my pcp in a few days. Well, a few days later I called my doctor first thing Friday morning. The front desk tells me they will pass a long the message. Hours go by, and I haven't heard anything, so I call again. This time they tell me it can take 3 business days for Dr. Heifetz to get back to me. This shocked me and I even asked "for someone who is sick?" Keep in mind I had already told them how I had just been in the ER and was feeling miserable. I told them I was willing to see anyone and was hoping to see a doctor before the weekend. They basically told me to go to Urgent care, which is what I did and was put on antibiotics for a sinus infection. While at urgent care, I did get a voicemail from Dr. Heifetz that was very dismissive saying how colds can last awhile and basically to just give it time. Keep in mind, she had not seen me or talked to me at this point, and I have had plenty of colds in my life and knew this was something more. This office has no sympathy and no triage capabilities. I was sick for 2 months and tried to reach my pcp, only to be offered an appointment a week out, which is a ridiculous time to wait when you are sick and in pain, so I didn't take it and instead I set up appointments with an ENT, cardiologist, and a family friend doctor on my own. A few weeks later I ended up in the ER again with severe stomach pain and again called Dr. Heifetz office to see if they could get me in sooner. Even the ER nurse had told me to be persistent and make sure they know to see you ASAP. I received a call back the following Monday to let me know that Dr. Heifetz couldn't squeeze me in on Friday ( yes, the Friday that had already passed), and was again told if I was still in pain to go to urgent care. I explained to her that I had already been in the ER and urgent care wouldn't be able to do anything more. The ER had recommended seeing a GI doctor. I tried to schedule it on my own, but they needed a referral from my pcp. I felt so frustrated and helpless at this point. What is the point of having a pcp if they can't see you when you actually have a problem? I have already found a new pcp. I am appalled with this office. I work in Healthcare too, and this is just unacceptable.
Had Dr Zimmermann for many years and he was great. Office staff and front desk though...cold, rude, unwilling to help you when you need. Wouldnt even relay a message to my doctor of 10+ years.
