This children's hospital is an important, essential part of the community not just for the East Bay but also the entire Bay area: The pediatric neurology department is second-to-none. My son was seen here following two serious concussions after being beaten up at school. He's still not out of the woods. He was seen by Nicole Ionescu, MD for neuro-psych testing to see how his brain was affected. First off i want to say the staff & nurses here are just so wonderful & kind. I did not encounter anyone rude or mean. However the ER room look like such a dump. You can tell it goes thru a lot & the whole area needs to be upgraded. However the ER waiting room & the bathrooms were super clean. ER room was shared, i didnt mind that but the fact is you dont really get privacy on your problems. Second they need do like noise control after 10pm. We first shared a room with a mom & kid & he was on his ipad with his volum all the way up. I was going to say something but my boyfriend told me not too. honestly the worst hospital i've been to, my brother had to get stitches on his forehead and had a deep gash. They told me he was going to be see him as soon as possible because of how bad his injury was. We arrived at 8 pm and ended up leaving around 3 am. I asked 2 people when the doctors were coming because my brother was starting to feel pain and was getting hungry and annoyed at that point since he didn't eat dinner yet. They told me they would talk to someone but i had to wait an hour or 2 before someone came and spoke with me.
