About Newport Beach Athletic Club
Newport Beach Athletic Club (NBAC) has been a family-owned and operated gym since its establishment in 1971. The club has evolved over the years with renovations that keep it aligned with the fitness industry while maintaining a focus on outstanding service in a clean and healthy family environment. It features high-class amenities, such as a plunge tank, steam sauna, dry sauna, and a large Jacuzzi, which contribute to its appeal. Members appreciate the laid-back atmosphere and the friendly crowd, including many older individuals and newcomers alike. The gym is especially noted for its men's only section, which some members find beneficial as it allows for a focused workout environment without distractions. This aspect has drawn both praise and criticism, with some members highlighting that men enjoy the freedom of a gym where they can be themselves without the pressure of dressing up. The equipment selection is broad, ensuring that there is never a wait for machines, making it an excellent choice for serious gym-goers. The locker room facilities are also praised, adding to the overall positive experience. Members value the sense of camaraderie and safety within the gym, feeling comfortable leaving their belongings unattended. Overall, Newport Beach Athletic Club is recognized as a great place for individuals who are serious about working out, providing a supportive and friendly environment that encourages fitness without the social pressures often found in other gyms.
Great place to work out. They have a plunge tank, steam sauna, dry sauna and large Jacuzzi. It's a really nice crowd a lot of older people that there's new blood coming in everyday.
I have been a member for 15 years. I'm perplexed by the one star reviews that criticize the same theme: NBAC has a men's only section. Some asked the club to step into 21st century. These are the same people were looking into a woman's only gym, and there is a plethora of women's only clubs. Why do these small minded women advertise their hypocrisy? Some women prefer to be members at women only gyms because they don't want to participate in the meat market scene or dress up and look decent because of the other women more interested in looking good, than exercising. Well, men like that too. It a luxury going to an all male gym with bed head for pre work lifting. Men, like many women, don't want to feel obligated to dress up for the gym. Woman like to socialize with women and have conversations that men would not understand. Men like to talk all about sports, sometimes by yelling across the room. Newport Beach Athletic Club is not some Men Only Secret Society where back door deals are made and deprive women of business opportunities. Newport Beach Athletic Club is a place for men who are serious about working out. BTW, nobody talks business or makes deals here. Working out is on the lesson plan and talking guy stuff. We can talk about business anytime at work. On that point, the equipment selection is broad. There is never a wait. NBAC caters to men that actual go to the gym, so it does not oversubscribe. It's not fancy or highly decorated, because it's not a pick up club. There is friendliness and comradely amongst members. There is no crime, so you don't have to worry about someone nicking your stinky shoes while you're in the shower. I highly recommend it for men who are serous about focusing on working out. I do not care for male poseurs and dolled up women trying to pick each other up, rather than weights.
Great gym to to enjoy and the locker room facilities are amazing compared to most. Thank you to Tom and the team for providing a great gym atmosphere and helping work through any member difficulties.
