My wife and I lost our home in the 2017 Napa wildfires. We chose to rebuild with Fultz Construction. CSLB License #604509. It was a mistake. Our project was slow to move forward. Our contractor had many excuses and it wasn't until almost a year into the job that it became clear to us the reason why it was slow moving. We found out that most of our subs weren't being paid.We asked our contractor to explain:1. He admitted to writing a personal check to himself, from our insurance proceeds. Keep in mind, we paid this contractor on-time, in-full, and in good faith…with every single draw payment to him.2. This became a huge issue, when our contractor didn't pay our Concrete sub-contractor almost $37K. As a result, we received a Mechanic's Lien, filed with Napa County, against us.3. In addition, our contractor didn't pay our subs on-time, or at all. In fact, 13 out of 14 subs weren't paid timely, many 90 to 120+ days, until we PUSHED him. A couple subs weren't paid for over a year!4. In fact, our contractor said he had to take loans and even a second mortgage on his house to pay our sub-contractors. How is that acceptable? We paid him, On-time, In-full with every single payment.5. Because of his money issues, our contractor had issues ordering items that we had already paid for. Our contractor claimed our shower and cabinet glass, our garage door and our bathroom tub were all back-ordered. This was a lie…he never ordered these items because of money issues. We ended up ordering the garage door, glass and the shower door. In fact, he admitted to not ordering these items. Finally, after about 6 months delay, he said he “maxed-out” his credit cards to order the bathroom tub. Big delays because of his lies.6. Our contractor failed to order the correct deck brackets…he ordered and installed non-galvanized brackets on pressure treated wood…a big mistake that resulted in the County red-flagging and not approving our final permit. He claimed he ordered the correct ones in April, but again, because of money issues, he never ordered them as he said he did. Then he ordered the wrong ones AGAIN!These are all facts. Fultz never completed his end of the contract and never followed through with completing our project…money issues were a huge reason--he owed subs and even had his account frozen at a local building supply company which impacted completion. And his incompetence…Fultz is disorganized, made unilateral decisions without consulting us and “forgot” things. We ended up paying for materials and labor to finish the job...money we had already paid Fultz to do the work...plus his 20% commission.Fultz ended up selling his house so he could pay us the $60K he owed us.I feel bad for the folks that he continues to hoodwink.Service: New home construction

Chris has been upfront and brutally honest about our wants and needs. Our house is 71yrs old and our visions of its potential can be met but reality is that permitting and weather can cause any small thing to become great! He has been easy to reach- super fast to respond- and professional as all get’out! We know that things take time and many factors are not known until uncovered. He has been great and while some have been unhappy- we understand what to expect and he has always MORE than delivered! Be reasonable and not naive and the experience will be taxing but very rewarding. We have other projects in mind and once we budget- Chris will be our first call/txt! Thanks Chris! Sivtec is a horrible company & I recommend not working with them. They hire sub contractors that do a poor job and Sivtec does not do a walk-through after the job is completed. They also charge for work that has not been completed and then they do not finish the job. We hired them over 2 years ago to build a 400 sq foot ADU and it is still not finished. They overcharged us for the project and there hasn't been any work done in months. They don't return calls or texts when we request updates as to when the project will be done. They charge a premium price and deliver poor-quality work and they don't communicate with the customer. I highly recommend NOT doing business with them. Buyer beware!Services: Bathroom remodeling
