As I was brushing my teeth one morning, half my face became paralyzed. I immediately video chatted with my doctor and the diagnosis was bells palsy. I was prescribed antibiotics and steroids and told some recover in 2 weeks and some in 6 months. Paralysis means I cannot close my eye. In the morning I use eye drops and at night I tape it shut. I drool out of one corner of my mouth and cannot chew or enunciate words properly. Going into week 3, not only have I not improved at all, I had significant blurred vision in my eye for 2 weeks. I was very worried I had to give up driving. This was the condition coming into Dr. Ho's office. I received acupuncture treatments 3 times a week initially. After the second appointment, my vision was 100% restored! During my appointments, he looks at my facial movements and goes to work right away. The appointments were painful throughout, but towards the last several appointments, Dr. Ho reduced the intensity. Fast forward 14 appointments later, I am nearly fully recovered. I have regained all movements in my face with the exception of lifting one brow up at a time. And that's okay. Dr. Ho gave me back my ability to smile again! He is a very experienced doctor that I have now come to trust. Thank you Dr. Ho for giving me my life back.
