Such a joy to have found Julio, so full of thoughtful instruction, kindness, and artful wisdom. And of course there’s also dear Jen, among so many interesting and delightful painters, each pursuing and creating beauty on different levels.

I’m an absolute beginner in oil painting. During my very first session, Julio memorably shared “Seeing is experiential; that is why painting is so enjoyable”. Wow, what a hoot. Truly.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love these people! Enthusiastic, creative, responsive and supportive are just a few words that instantly come to mind. I have been painting with Julio and Jen for 5 years now and never bored, only sad when I can't make it to an event. They have taken me locally to so many interesting and local places around Los Angeles, online when we were stuck at home and now globally with planned art trips (all supplies included!) My most recent trip to Salisbury England was epic. Due to their planning we were able to not only plein air paint at Stonehenge, they had arranged that we get a private tour within the stones themselves. I will be taking another trip with them to New York City this fall. Whether you are an experienced painter like myself, a beginner or any kind of art enthusiast you will love the conversation and expansion of your mind and heart that the Roofless Painters offers.

A M A Z I N G. Julio is a patient, thoughtful, teacher. and inspiring as an artist. He lives his artist life fully and it comes out in so many ways in his teaching and interactions with his students. I make huge strides in every class regardless of the end result. How lucky for me his classes are now available by webinar so I can continue my practice with Julio from Maine. Can't wait to do it again...
