DISCLAIMER: this is a biased but honest review. My MIL has been going to Mary for over 14+ years, and when I expressed wanting to dye my natural Asian black-brown hair purple but my regular stylist was still closed due to COVID-19 and Safer at Home orders here in L.A. County, my MIL said her stylist could do it for me before I went on vacation next week. This was a gift from my MIL, but would have cost $150 (not counting tip) for the work that Mary put in. This job entailed 3+ hours of bleaching highlights into my hair (took that long because I have a lot of hair and the darkness of it just took that much longer to be bleached platinum blonde) and then the purple dye itself only took about 10-15 minutes. We were at the salon (just us) for over 5 hours to complete it all. Mary had special ordered the dye for me, as purple is not a regular request from most of her clientele. Mary also doesn't speak English (that I know of) so I'd recommend if you plan on going to her that you either know Spanish or bring along someone who knows Spanish! Mary was very professional and did an amazing job on my hair. Her shop is a tiny hole-in-the-wall place with only two chairs, and right now it is still by appointment only because of the whole social distancing rule, so just be aware if you want to have her do your hair, you better give her a call and book an appointment, as drop-by/walk-ins are not accepted. Also, I noticed there was only one review here and it is rather old, so want to point out that I did see an A/C unit in her shop, so perhaps she had improved upon her shop a bit since that last review. Also, the shop is located in a tiny strip mall where there's a flower shop and donut shop, so parking is very limited. Lastly, it is CASH ONLY - so know that before you go.
