I came to Kylie after about 12 years of struggling with my weight. I was very lean and active in my 20s, but I kept gaining a few pounds each year. By the age of 36, despite working out 4-5 times a week, my body fat percentage had climbed to about 40%. Even my old "quick tricks" of losing 3-5 lbs weren't working anymore - my body had just had enough. After years of fad diets and short term restriction, I knew that I needed to work with a registered dietician to solve the root of my problem. It was important to me to go to someone who was professionally and academically trained, and not just some "nutritionist" who had earned an online certification. Kylie is the real deal, having earned a Master's from UCLA and just about every professional certification available in her field. Her approach is science based and she keeps up on all of the latest research and literature, frequently sharing new information she learned in our sessions. Beyond her professional certifications, Kylie also helped me through the mental struggle of weight loss. Part of her approach is to really get clear on your "why" and to start seeing the patterns in your behavior. For me, I realized that more than a food problem, I had a stress problem. When I started understanding the "why" of my bad habits, I could start understanding what was really going on and why I was making such bad decisions. Kylie is not the person to go to if you want a quick fix - she's not going to put you on a crash diet that gets you down to your goal weight within a few weeks. If you work with her, you should be prepared to lose weight at a reasonable pace and while learning the building blocks of nutritional health. She may also recommend a calorie limit that's lower than you may have anticipated, but it's all backed by science and isn't uncomfortable when you're eating higher quality, whole foods. I set out with the goal of losing 20 lbs, and in truth, I didn't think this could ever really happen. When I started dropping weight, I almost couldn't believe it was happening because nothing had worked for so long. About halfway through the journey, something in my mindset shifted where I no longer focused on the weight loss, but I realized that I was doing this for my health and wellbeing. As of today, I'm 20 lbs lighter and down 2 sizes. Beyond the weight loss itself, I feel so much lighter emotionally - I don't worry about having a picture taken of me and I don't feel like I need to "diet" anymore. I have a set of habits that I know work and I can just stick with them, without thinking too much about counting calories. What Kylie has taught me goes beyond what my macros should be, or how many calories I need (though that is important!), but she's given me a toolkit for navigating my nutrition and wellness for the rest of my life. I started this journey trying to lose 20 lbs, but I've gained so much more than just the changing number on a scale. I can't recommend Kylie enough, and I my only regret is not going to her sooner.
I can't thank Kylie enough for helping me lose over 40lbs! Kylie didn't just hand me a diet plan; she showed me how to live a healthier lifestyle that I could maintain on my own. I now feel like a whole new person - confident and full of energy to play with my kids, and my mental health has never been better. Kylie didn't just give me tips and leave me to figure it out; she was there for me every step of the way. She helped me figure out portion sizes, brainstorm ideas for lunch, and even review the menus before heading out to a restaurant. Kylie genuinely cares and goes above and beyond to ensure her clients succeed and flourish. If you're struggling with weight loss or want to feel healthier, I can't recommend Kylie enough. She's not just a dietician; she's a friend who helps you change your lifestyle.
I have worked with Kylie for several months now on a weight loss plan and can't recommend working with her enough. If you struggle to lose weight, it is more than likely that there are a number of dietary, emotional/behavioral, environmental, and physical obstacles that need to be navigated. Kylie takes a holistic approach to weight loss: as she says, "behavior before the scale every time." Hers is a comprehensive program that focuses on creating a lifelong and sustainable approach to weight loss, which is truly the only way to approach. You come for the weight loss and stay for the new life! To date, I'm about half way to my weight loss goal and couldn't have done it without Kylie. She's an amazing person to have supporting you along the way!
