“a few months ago we hired Bary Scenery to start with a design for our ADU and backyard landscaping. After looking at a few contractors and also designers we decided to go with a design and build. Talked to the owner, Ali, about the process and he was very clear as to the fact that they design under the contractor license so if they end up getting the permit they are the only ones that can build it but he also said if they decide not to build with them we can shop around and get our own contractor but that contractor has to do their own permit work. Checked with local city and they confirmed that is the case, so we hired them to start with design.

Their team is local in Mountain View and have a nice design studio, worked with head of design Behdad a lot, he has a lot of architectural educational background from Italy and his style of work is very unique. They designed our ADU and our backyard in about 2 months timeframe and gave us details for the construction cost as well. We shopped around and found out that other builders prices were very similar to Bay Scenery but they did not want to deal with Permit nor they seems to have both trades we need which were General Contractor and Landscape Contract and we would have to deal with multiple companies ourselves which was not ideal considering our own daily work load.

Signed the contract to build with Bay Scenery, they have taken care of all of the permit work like clockwork and kept us in the loop. Few challenges from the city that they are working on and we are about to start build.

I must say we were not too sure about a design and build but found that the Bay Scenery team were the most transparent and honest about the process and so far have enjoyed working with them.“

I want to give a special thanks to Garescape landscape contractor Miguel Gatica. His service is simply great and he has a very pleasant personality.
We had two large fences that need to be replaced, debris hauled away, roots taken out, a new irrigation system that needed to be installed, sod rolled out, and many plants planted.
It is hard to find a company that will do everything with such good quality and good price. Miguel is very comfortable when he is working. He frequently works alongside his workers together.
Miguel took care of everything for us. He even dug a tree stump out for us. His workers were very polite, hardworking, and nice. They finished the job in a timely manner and now everything looks great!

“Hortus Landscapes replaced my front lawn with a beautiful drought tolerant design that looks so much better than my old lawn! I'm very happy with how my landscaping turned out, Vijaya, the owner and her crew made my vision a reality. She was on the job as the project manager everyday for many hours. Her crew was great at following her directions; they were very polite, professional, hard working and cleaned up before leaving each day. Vijaya had her crew pick up and deliver the boulders and flagstones I picked out, she directed her crew where and how to place them so they looked great and I was happy. Hortus built a custom trellis from a drawing I did. In order to get the size just right she went to my neighbors to measure their trellis so we could get a visual of the exact size to make my trellis. Since they started my job last February the nurseries didn't have a full selection of plants so they dug holes and placed empty plant containers to place the plants in when they became available. Vijaya went to several nurseries to hunt down as many of the plants I had chosen, she even drove over 100 miles twice to get the tiny tower cypress I wanted. Hortus installed path and spot lights which makes my front yard light up so beautifully at night. She also installed drip irrigation on all plants and even set up some stock tanks on the side of my yard for herb and vegetable planting. I loved working with Vijaya, she is detailed oriented and a perfectionist like me, she's very knowledgeable in horticulture as per the name Hortus, and has a passion for plants and knows a lot about medicinal herbs, she even shared some of her time honored herbal, spice recipes with me. The landscaping was installed in February, this picture shows what it looked like in July, this summer it should have a lot more color as the plants mature and grow. I got about 3 other bids and Hortus was the best value considering Vijaya's knowledge as a certified horticulturist with over 20 years in the field of landscaping. When they finished the job I was sad to see them leave, I would definitely use them again.“

Angel's crew was meticulous in building the wall and they got everything done on time and within budget. “Mike Hertzer and his team at Modern Landscaping recently completed a front and backyard installation for my husband and I at a newly built residence in Morgan Hill. Mike is truly a dedicated landscape professional. Mike was organized, on top of the job at all times, respectful and caring of his crew, and informed of the latest and best materials and techniques for the job. What's more, Mike is extremely knowledgeable about a wide range of plant material. He was very patient with my many questions; I learned a lot from him. He also had a great working relationship with our landscape designer who clearly respected Mike's expertise. Our site had several challenges that Mike easily handled, including poor drainage and poor soil quality. And although not an extremely large project, our design included several types of hardscape (Mike's crew did an absolutely beautiful job of cutting and laying a stone patio), multiple planting areas, two water fountains and a variety of other details. Mike didn't take shortcuts. Every step of the installation was done carefully. I especially appreciated Mike's attention to detail, such as building the AC enclosures in such a way they could be easily removed for future access. Or covering the openings into the underground drainage pipes with mesh so that leaves and other debris would not fall into them. Mike even provided extra parts for the irrigation system and provided me with an "as installed" diagram showing where the underground electrical and water lines were located - not just a paper copy, but a laminated one I could take outside. In short, Mike truly cares about the quality of work done under his name. I am so glad we chose Modern Landscaping to install our yard and would absolutely recommend them for any landscaping project.“

“The crew from Jim Lord is GREAT!! Our sprinklers in our gardens here in California had not been working in two years. Other companies had tried to fix them with no luck and just made things worse. Gilberto from JL got them all up and running in no time. The lawns and shrubs are finally green again. We also had Victor come and do some re-landscaping of my veggie & cutting gardens. “Many years ago we had Jenna Bayer Garden Design completely remodel the backyard of our first home: new plants & trees, water saving irrigation system, a charming water feature, Adirondack chair area with a granite boulder as coffee table and the perfect deck roof addition with overhead gas heater. It was perfect!We loved her work, her eye for great design and her attention to detail so much that many years later when we moved into out new larger home (and larger property, we had her completely redesign the front, back and side yards. This included again all new plants & irrigation, plus a brand new deck (with 2 electric louver roofs, copper hammered fire table, water feature between two raised vegetable garden beds, several salt and pepper granite boulders added to complement the several existing 85 year old Redwood trees, a decomposed granite pathways and a wandering bluestone walkway leading to a new stone lined driveway.Today the garden and ground look wonderful and as our hobby is maintaining the garden ourselves, we are always being complimented on how beautiful the yard looks.
