Good for the first two years, then he stopped providing the services he was contracted to complete. Started raising rates every year even after he promised to not do so. Stopped trimming shrubs to the point they were so overgrown, we had to hire another company to remove plants in order to save the other plants. Over sold quality. Under delivered services. Always had an excuse to not do the tasks we asked. Never fertilized yard. Snarky, unprofessional responses to our concerns. Yelp reviews indicated he was low quality. Should have listened. Listen to the reviews and be selective when hiring Rick. We had the exact same experience-- oversold skill, under delivered. Raised rates every year, but did not raise qualify of work. Always found an excuse to blame client instead of being responsible himself. Called us his biggest complainers and that may be because the quality of work dropped so low we only had complaints. Hired to maintain lawn, trim shrubs and weed. He was suppose to come by the house around the 10th, 20th, and 30th. Started at a reasonable rate and things were good for the first two years. Then he raised his rates saying our yard was larger than most of his other clients BTW-- it is approximately 30' x 30' with a row of shrubs and two trees (we always paid him extra to prune the trees). He came only twice a month for the last couple of years, rarely trimmed the shrubs, and NEVER fertilized the lawn; barely ever took the weeds and when he raked up trimmings or dropped leaves, he raked up all of the decorative mulch and threw it away. The last time he raised his rates, he shook my hand and said he would not raise them again (we have a fixed, limited income due to retirement and disability). That lasted about four months because he just came around and raised them another $10/month citing high gas prices. No honor. We recently had to hire someone else to cut back two of the shrubs that Rick was supposed to be trimming because they were so overgrown. When we asked him to be careful about the mulch he got snarky, touting his great quality work. We called bull and after a few exchanges, told him that he did not have to return. Good news, we immediately found a new gardening service who not only is less expensive but for a better price even take care of the landscaping in our backyard (something Rick would not do). They even replaced the sprinkler valves Rick broke when he mowed over them...for no charge! To be fair, if you have a one time job for Rick to do he will do good work. But he gets too comfortable with any maintenance work and sloppy.

Nice enough guy. Quality is standard for the industry; nothing to make a big deal about. Raises rates every year about $10 so if you're on a fixed income be ready to give your whole Social Security increase if you get one to Rick.
