Alvarez Sensei not only has a great deal of experience with Aikido and sword, but shares his knowledge and experience in a way in which students can better understand the techniques.

Traditional Japanese martial arts taught by a great Sensei (teacher). He has been involved in martial arts as a student, teacher and in the community as well. The dojo is clean, well kept and a peaceful place to learn. I recommend this dojo and its instructors to the very beginner and the serious martial artist.

From Aikido of Livermore - Shinrei Dojo

Aikido of Livermore - Shinrei Dojo has been in operation continuously since 1989. We offer instruction in the Japanese arts of Aikido and Battodo. Our chief instructor, Jim Alvarez Sensei as well as all the assistant instructors are dedicated to offering the very best instruction. We offer introductory classes in both of these arts. Our classes for beginners are intended to give you a taste of each art. You will be introduced to the basics in an atmosphere designed specifically for beginners, no martial arts experience is necessary. Nothing is expected of you other than a willingness to learn, a desire to explore something new and regular attendance to the class.
