Pingo Solar appears to have gone out of business. I had solar installed in 2020 - it was good work at the time, but now our system is showing issues with dropping production. I reached out to get them to troubleshoot what was going on. I reached out by phone, and email to their main hello email as well as direct emails to to those involved with my projects - other than an answering service who took my information, there has been no response. Scott An's email bounced back immediately. Look elsewhere for a solar installer as these guys are either done or about to die. No reviews for a long time backs this up too.
This review is regarding a ground mount solar project estimate not roof top .I received an estimate from Pingo solar that was lower price than other estimates and for a much larger ground mounted solar system than that I received from a couple of other solar companies in my area. from Pingo’s representative Dmitry. The proposal was done using my latest Edison bill ,google Satelite photos of my home and all contact was by email and text. After questioning the lower price and larger system estimate I received from Pingo solar I was told by Dmitry he had re checked his calculations all was correct with his proposal and that Pingo solar is usually 20% lower than their competitors and that is in their advertising and that if I would like to move forward he should need to come to my home . I made an appointment with Dmitry for 11:00 am 9/ 7/2021 at 10:30 am on 9/7 I called Dmitry to confirm he was on his way and was informed he was no longer with Pingo. And was assured his colleagues would be keeping his appointment.I then called the company to confirm(no answer) but received a text message from I believe the owner Ben Cho within minutes of leaving my message on the number given to me by Dmitry . We agreed to reschedule for Friday 9/17/2021 10:00 am . Then this happens and is what left me thinking Pingo Solar was a company others should be aware of . Hayden from Pingo calls me on 9/8/2021, I called him back 9/9/2021 and was told by Hayden that Dmitry really did not know what he was doing and that my system should have been priced at twice the price I was quoted by Dmitry. I said that I had received a couple of other quotes that were approximately 20% more expensive than Pingo price and smaller in size and and that I had questioned Dmitry about his estimate. and that I was looking forward to someone from Pingo coming out on 9/17 to confirm the price and system size I would need . Then was then told by Hayden that It would be “better if we parted friends “and he canceled my appointment with Pingo for 9/17/2021 and hung up .All of this happened over approximately a period of a week maybe two. I feel like I dodged a Bullet in not doing business with Pingo Solar and that this was a very unpleasant and unprofessional experience.
In 2018 I chose Pingo to instal solar panels. I paid them and waited. I called for status, got excuses several times over ~90 days. Their go-to excuse was to blame delays on the City of San Diego's permit back-log, and they assured me they were doing everything possible on their end. One of their employees even forwarded me a pDF document from the City which showed application number, date, property address and status as pending review.I brought this up to my good friend who works for the City and she immediately smelled a rat. She asked me to forward the document and details to her. She and the permit team immediately saw that the document Pingo sent had been digitally altered. In fact, they had stopped using that type of document the previous year. They looked up the application number and it was for a different property from a couple years prior...and there was no application in process for my property...months after I paid them!I emailed Pingo that the City is in possession of their forged document and they are opening an investigation. My phone immediately started blowing up with calls from Pingo...the sales rep, the operations guy, and even the owner of Pingo. They blamed everything on a lowly "permit runner" who I was told is a young guy with a troubled past, was trying to get his life back together, made a mistake, admitted to everything and is now begging for forgiveness through his tears...all crap, as far as I'm concerned. I reluctantly negotiated a price concession and extended warranty with the owner. They did act urgently (permit at the City was quickly approved) and installed the panels as agreed. The panels worked well for a while. But during the last 6 months they have produced close to zero energy. I have to call several times (and act like a j**** to even get a call back. I called them again last week. No call back and panels still not working.Pingo is a dishonest company. Use someone else.
