About Veterinary Specialty Group of Glendora
Veterinary Specialty Group of Glendora is a highly regarded veterinary practice. The staff is described as efficient, professional, and caring. Dr. Yau, a specialist in internal medicine, is praised for her expertise and compassion. Clients appreciate her thoroughness in explaining medical procedures and jargon. Dr. Yau is known for going above and beyond, such as promptly providing test results and checking in on patients. The practice is considered more affordable than other specialty hospitals in the Los Angeles area. Clients also highlight the welcoming atmosphere, noting that the technicians and receptionists are friendly and attentive to both patients and owners. The lobby is giant, modern, clean, and always calm. The vets are friendly, compassionate, and always remember pets' names. They are also gentle and patient with animals. Dr. Yau comes out to go over notes and any advice or treatment she suggests. The team does a great job of caring for dogs and regularly keeps owners updated through calls and emails.
Dr Yau has been the very best vet to our last two German Shepard dogs! I was referred to her by a rescue about 12 years ago, and she diagnosed and saved the older German Shepherd we had when our local vets were not really identifying the issue. When we got our next little guy and it was clear he had something serious going on, Dr. Yau was able to give us a diagnosis and treatment that has kept him in great shape and given him quality of life his whole life. She and her staff truly care, and she is kind, very thorough and straightforward. We appreciate her and her team so much, it's like a breath of fresh air to have personal treatment from someone you trust.
We have been coming here since 2018. We have had 4 cats since that time (3 that are "seniors"), so we come here A LOT! LOL. We have also used 3 other vets in the San Gabriel Valley, and this place is absolutely the best. 1. The environment: overall safe, quiet area with good parking. The lobby is GIANT, modern, clean, and always calm (they also have cold water and a Keurig machine). The exam rooms are also quiet and modern. There is a nice big bathroom. 2. The front desk staff (especially Alex): always answer the phone quickly and seem to recognize me right away. Not only highly competent but they follow through on things they say they are going to do. AND they are long-term employees, so they get things right and obviously enjoy their jobs! 3. The techs: Same as front desk staff in that they are long-term and know what they are doing. All so friendly; first they come out to greet you, say hello to the animal patients, and efficiently get the pet's current situation from you. Then they come back out in a few minutes and gently carry the patient in (sometimes in their arms)! 4. The vets: We have only ever seen Dr. Yau and she is friendly, compassionate, and always remembers our pets' names. I've seen into the back room before, and she and the techs are so gentle and patient with the animals (I have one cat who's rather "feisty" with strangers so I say kudos to this team. LOL). After the exam or procedures are over, Dr. Yau comes out to go over the notes and any advice/treatment she suggests. A lot of other vets use their services for patients who need specialized care--ultrasounds, special procedures, etc--but I now take my cats in for their regular care, even though it is pricier here for routine visits and a further drive. I just no longer trust any place else in comparison. They were also the first vet that suggested I get my cats' prescriptions from Walgreens because it's more convenient and cheaper (I never even thought about that option)!!! Every other vet wants to make money on that stuff. BRAVOOOOOO!!!!! And no, I am NOT a paid actor. :-D
What's up: After we had a heck of a time with our dog's emergency visit, the staff members had recommended seeing an internal medicine specialist here to ensure our senior dog's health. Parking: The corner area of Avalon Glendora. There's a sign that says it's reserved for retail parking. Environment: Since this was the same location as the Emergency Pet Hospital of Glendora, everything was very familiar. The vet assistant will come out to the waiting area to have a conversation with you about the reason of visit. Once the information was gathered, they'll take your pet to the back to do the examinations. When that's completed, Dr. Yau (who's pretty awesome and explains things really well) came out to discuss what was identified and any testing or next steps to take. A bit more waiting and finally, your pet will return! See the receptionist up front (Alex was very nice too) and close things out. What was ordered: - Examination - Lab/testing - Medication Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. The visits are a bit pricey but it's additional peace of mind to ensure our dog's health is doing well, especially in his older years. And so far, everything that Dr. Yau recommended has been helping. The team does a great job of caring for our dog and regularly keeps us updated through calls and emails. Credit cards are accepted.
