Coat is the best full-service design and remodel business in the industry. We worked with Chad and his team for 10 months on a full addition and remodel of our home in La Jolla. The attention to detail, skills, care, transparency, and quality of craftsmanship is second to none. We have remodeled several homes and our experience with Coat has been incredible. Chad and his team had fresh ideas for everything - ranging from how to add space, to thinking through lighting plans - there were so many details that we hadn't thought of, but they clearly had. They are creative experts and are always willing to work within your budget. Chad and his team are honest and trustworthy,...read full review
Chad and his team are honest and trustworthy, which is something that you do not find very often in this business. If you are lucky enough to work with Coat, don't hesitate. We are so happy with the quality of their work and love our home. Thank you, Chad, Otto, David, and the entire Coat team!
Over the past 30 years, my husband and I have completed several home renovations. We've done everything from master bathroom and kitchen remodels to what could almost be considered an entire rebuild. Working with Chad and his team at COAT was definitely the most seamless and dare I say - pleasant? experience of them all. And it was done during a global pandemic. This remodeling project, in addition to taking place during COVID, was different from the others because we had no intention of living in the house after it was completed. We had tested the real estate market for 30 days before realizing that updating our home (the master bathroom was from 1989) would be the way to go. This is where Chad and COAT came in. I need to add that they were very busy at the time we had our initial meeting. And yet... from our very first introduction, Chad made it feel like we were his only clients. That's the level of attention/service, as I would come to learn, that you get with COAT. We knew what needed to be done prior to signing on with COAT, but Chad and Jaki (who is an amazing interior designer!!) immediately identified cost-effective ways to do it. And because Jaki has a true passion for interior design, and Chad knows a lot about house flipping, they were able to offer advice that would not only create a beautiful home for future owners, but would translate into ROI for us. We were not living in the house when the work was done (and honestly, that is the best way to do a remodel - especially during a pandemic), but communication was always spot-on. COAT utilizes an online portal which makes seeing exactly what is going on during the renovation (literally) extremely easy. You don't have to worry that progress is being made - because you see it happening in real time. There were a few supply-chain challenges along the way (did I mention the pandemic?), but the team from COAT somehow found a solution to each one AND they kept the project on schedule while doing so. They were also very flexible and adapted easily when we changed the scope of work. From Chad and Jaki to David (our project manager) to the behind-the-scenes team - everyone at COAT was a pleasure to work with. These are talented, hardworking - good - people. If you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with them - take it. And if you have to wait, wait. The knowledge that you will be working with people who get every aspect of the design build process will make the experience (even if you have to wait) worth it. Bottom line: We had four offers on our house in three days. The renovation made the difference.
