6323 Telegraph Ave, Oakland“I have been going to Shirliey for almost two years now through so many phases of infertility, IVF, miscarriage, and now pregnancy! She has been one of the only constant practitioners I have seen throughout the process and she is truly a gifted and essential godsend. In addition to helping me to (finally) achieve pregnancy, she has also helped to balance my spirit and body as a whole as I've navigated this super stressful time. I've done both weekly acupuncture and Maya massage her based on different things going on with infertility treatments, diagnosis, and more. She is incredibly knowledgable in both and how to use both in tandem to heal. She is a great listener and a wealth of knowledge beyond just acupuncture, providing dietary and at-home healing techniques for everything from bloating and stress to indigestion and allergies. I love talking with her every week to debrief how things are going, and also appreciate her practical and direct but caring communication style. I've celebrated and also cried with her and consider her such an important part of my care team. I cannot recommend Shirliey enough!“

Alison is empathetic, kind, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. Her ability to focus on my physical and mental needs while providing excellent holistic service is truly remarkable. Ever since my first visit, I've been singing her praises to anybody with ailments that could benefit from Alison's care (so basically everybody I know). If you are on the fence about trying acupuncture or are considering switching to a new provider, go see Dr. A!“

At 38 weeks pregnant I had an acute/urgent issue and even though I hadn't seen her for an appointment in many months, she immediately responded to my message with a phone call and provided a wealth of sage knowledge and advice. Both her kindness and her holistic medical wisdom shine through when you interact with her. Highly recommend.“

After the first session, I ran a mile and had no limp afterwards - I couldn't believe it!! And then in a few more sessions, she helped breakdown scar tissue from the surgery, and refined my gait.Maki is very thorough, sensitive, and knowledgeable. Her office is spotless and very comfortable (so relaxing that I always fell asleep).Thank you, Maki!!“

2806 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley“Short version: coming here truly helped me to heal from an ankle injury. I highly recommend John Luna-Sparks for any help with pain! His caring attitude combined with his extensive knowledge make him an amazing provider.Longer version: I had an ankle injury, with damage to various tendons and ligaments, keeping me not only from walking as much as I’d like but also from driving. My regular doctor did a quick video visit with me and then gave me some generic exercises to do.My friend, an ER nurse, recommended John for sports medicine acupuncture. He spent quite a bit of time assessing me and explaining to me in detail both my injury and the treatment.I felt results quickly. Though total improvement took time, the visits made noticeable difference.John was caring, supportive, informative, and overall just wonderful to work with!“

When you're with her you know that you're in the hands of someone who cares about you and your health and making you feel as good as possible. I always leave feeling relaxed and loose and like I'm ready to take on my week. I also love that Juliana really *hears* me when I tell her about something that doesn't feel right in my body. She trusts my own intuition and that's something I struggle to find in other venues. It feels amazing to have someone listen to you, someone who keeps updated on multiple aspects of your life from week to week, and who is genuinely determined to make your life as healthy and happy as possible.“

3111 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley“I came in for PTSD symptoms (sexual trauma). When my boyfriend mentioned acupuncture for his back pain, he mentioned many other ways acupuncture can help a person. I was very excited because of the reviews but extremely nervous for the actual experience. I totally misjudged the guy in which I automatically asked for a female in order to feel more comfortable. I didn't mean to offend anybody. Long story short I ended up going after my boyfriend. First off, Charles was very sweet and calming. I felt very relaxed and safe during the whole experience. I felt as if all the bad memories were okay because the physical pain was getting cleansed out of my body. Since I'd been having horrible stomach problems and I'd stress out immensely. Right I felt like myself and present in the moment. I noticed a de clutter in my mind & my body felt light as a feather. Very amazing experience. Definitely going back again!“

She has supported me through loss, celebration, and transitions in life. Each treatment begins with a check-in, which importantly includes my emotional state. Then she adjusts the needles according to my emotional and physiological needs. Her touch is so gentle and I feel incredibly calmed after each session. She's offered guidance for how to improve lifestyle outside of the sessions too. I am truly grateful to work with such a gifted practitioner“
