I had been having neck pain for a week or two, so when a friend said that she was getting a massage I was eager to tag along. The decor is minimal, but I didn’t factor that into this review. I mentioned to the masseuse that my neck should be the main focus and that I would like a medium to deep massage. She only worked on my neck for a little while. Also, the pressure was lighter than I had requested. After a decent massage, I handed over $60 in cash ($50 massage + tip). I thought a 20% tip was sufficient, but she told me that it wasn’t enough. Shirley is absolutely amazing. She has strong, skilled hands and can truly work through the toughest knots in my back like no one else I’ve ever found. I usually tip 30% because the prices are very reasonable and she more than earns it every time.

I don’t live in Berkeley anymore, but whenever I visit friends, I always make a point to come here just to see Shirley. I’ve tried many massage therapists elsewhere and honestly haven’t found anyone nearly as effective at relieving tension and tightness.

I ask for Eva everytime she massages me for both my pregnancies and always has me side lying safely and knows exactly how to work my knots. I was afraid to share about her but I think she deserves business and tips bc she’s a sweet lady and really puts her knuckles to work everytime I go. The business owner also intentionally only charges $50/hr instead of raising prices hoping people wouldn’t skim on tips and I appreciate that as well. Support your local business folks!
