During the very crazy rains, Diamond Roofing was the only roofing company to return my calls. Courtney is absolutely amazing in communicating and getting crew out. It took a few tries for them to actually stop the leak, as it kept raining. I understand it is trial and error when plugging a leak.Because my home is a vacation rental when I am not there, when the rain finally stopped, I asked for a roof replacement bid. They informed me I had another 2 years left on the roof, but I let them know it was important for me to get ahead of problems and I wanted a bid.Another roofer had caulked my copper -- and it looked terrible. The bid included replacing the copper coping and I assumed they would clean up all the caulking and messiness that were created when trying to plug leaks.Despite Diamond's bid being $5,000 higher than the next, I hired them, as they seemed to have a big enough crew to help in a time of need and I appreciated all their help to that point. I thought paying a premium meant premium service. Not really. They just cost more.I also had a short timeline to get it done. I was guaranteed the work would be done in less than a week. At the end of the week, I was told the copper was late, and they couldn't find a stucco contractor, so they needed another week (while I had guests in the house). This was simply poor project management -- to not align subcontractors and materials ahead of time. Disappointing. Especially, since I was crystal clear of my timeline -- and I let them know if it would take 2 weeks, I could delay the new roof until Fall. When the copper and stucco seemed sloppily done, I began having long conversations -- and the response was "we're roofers, we replaced the roof." Well, if that's the attitude -- then why quote on the other work? In the end, the project management, attention to detail, and the lack of conversations ahead of time of the scope of work -- and what they would or would not do was very disappointing.I finally had a senior guy out that admitted there was a drop of the ball in setting expectations of what I really needed to get ahead of future problems, and they'd follow back up with a resolution.I simply received a $500 credit to pay for half of the side of the house that needed painting (from the stucco work). They are great roofers. However, I would get multiple bids and REALLY go through the scope of work with a fine tooth comb before hiring Diamond -- or, you may end up with a contract that misses important details -- both cosmetically and leak-preventatively down the road. I'm sure they'll be available to help on the next leak that somehow isn't covered in their contract, but likely won't be included in the 10 year warranty because they'll blame the copper that wasn't in the scope. Since I had another 2 years left on my roof, I should have had a general contractor out and better understood what my real problem and options were.
Excellent crew. This is the third time we've used this company, and we couldn't be happier with their work. With all this rain this year, and our aging house, I'm glad we have this company around to help. Joe came out to look at our roof leak. He accessed and gave me a quote using his service department (two man team, paid hourly). He figured it would save me money (versus a flat charge) since the work wasn't too big. Technicians came out the following week. Edmundo explained his work and did his magic so future water would divert more towards the gutters than the side of our house. Techs were both super nice and hard working. They finished the repair in a few hours. I received the invoice a few weeks later, and notice a small discrepancy. Joe verified the work with his technicians and fix the invoice. Excellent customer service!Communication, work and customer service is great. Love working with companies like this. Eventually we'll need to re-paper our whole roof. We'll definitely use Diamond Roofing again.
I selected Diamond Roofing to replace my cedar shake roof with a fire retardant urethane shake on my 95 year old Tudor home. Very difficult project. Tear off, install plywood sheeting, paper and shingles. They also replaced my very old copper gutters. From scaffolding to completion of the punch list, they were reliable, efficient and skilled. I highly recommend Diamond Roofing for any roofing project.
