A few years ago, I was experiencing intense shoulder pain and was left immobile. I ended up visiting the emergency room five times and was prescribed strong painkillers and Percocets. I also saw Dr. G and underwent extensive electrotherapy for 11 months, but unfortunately, my condition did not improve and the pain seemed to worsen. For years, a friend had been recommending acupuncture, but for someone who hates needles, it was not an easy call. Eventually, I went to visit Dr. Woo in 2001 for the first time. After just one visit, which lasted 30 minutes and cost only $30, my pain was instantly relieved. Dr. Woo has over 35 years of experience and is truly a master of his craft. I highly recommend him for anyone suffering from pain. While he is always busy, I don't think he needs Yelp referrals, as his reputation speaks for itself. I live in West Hollywood, and I have tried other acupuncturists in the past, but none compares to Dr. Woo. So even if it means driving two hours in traffic 2 ways, I would never cheat on him again. If you want to experience the best care possible, Dr. Woo is the truth THANK YOU
SHORT REVIEW: Lloyd and Dr. Woo are extremely polite & respectful, everything is very clean, and the experience & treatment was very enjoyable. LONG REVIEW: I run 100+ miles per month and weight train 4 days per week. I put my body through a lot. I have been suffering from idle sciatica pain for several months but never got it formally addressed. Unfortunately, it all came to a head and I ended up severely compressing a my L2/L3 disc and spiked my sciatica pain 10fold. Never felt pain like that before. I just finished my 3rd round of acupuncture with e-stim with Dr. Woo and the pain has been SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. DISCLAIMER: I am also seeing a chiropractor and doing my own decompression work (inversion table, etc) to help the healing process. But after every visit to Dr. Woo so far, either the same or the following day, the pain is lessened. I was a little nervous at first because I had never done acupuncture before and didn't know what to expect, but Lloyd (Dr. Woo's 1 other assistant and I think student) and Dr. Woo were extremely welcoming, polite, and respectful, and seemed genuinely happy to see me when I walked in (especially Lloyd haha). As far as results, I knew I was onto something good when I could sneeze for the first time and not feel pain. IF YOU ARE SUFFERING FROM PAINS THAT MAKE LIFE UNCOMFORTABLE BUT ARE ALSO PROCRASTINATING DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT'S "NOT THAT BAD", GO SEE DR. WOO. A few or even just one visit and you'll wonder why you hadn't gone sooner. Very fairly priced. 1 acupuncture + e-stim session from beginning to end (sign-in, set up, treatment, massage) is 50 minutes and costs $90 even. They have other services as well like cupping but I've only done acu+e-stim. IF YOU DO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT, BE SURE TO PUT IT IN YOUR OWN CALENDAR RIGHT AWAY. They do everything old school in a hand-written journal and not in a computer (which in a way adds a level of authenticity to the experience), so you won't get email or text reminders. Be an adult. Track your calendar lol. Lastly, Dr. Woo and Lloyd are both Chinese-American (I explicitly asked because I didn't want to assume wrongly). Dr. Woo speaks very little English but Lloyd is fluent in English and Chinese. If you need assistance with communicating something to Dr. Woo, Lloyd is happy to help! He's a very happy guy and always smiling
I have been seeing Dr Woo for over 20 years after I was told by a back surgeon that I needed surgery. One of my good friends that is one of the head ER doctors at Hoag referred me to him. At first I was like what? My doctor friend reminded me Acupuncture has been around for over 3000 years. Modern medicine 200? Opened my eyes and I have not been in pain ever since. I see Dr Woo a few times a year, especially when I overwork in my business; Hardwood flooring. He is the best. He helps my wife and 3 kids whenever they need it. See him first before you EVER do surgery!
