“We are very pleased with the work Brett and his team completed for us. We purchased a home in Coronado requiring several upgrades. Work completed by Landscape Solutions included removing the existing pergola and concrete patio in our backyard and a lot of ivy in front along the front and side of our home, refreshing all the landscaping (with new drip lines and adding several new plants), and adding a built-in barbeque on the side of our house. Brett listened to our ideas and developed a plan that improved upon our initial draft ideas. The effort was completed within the estimated timeframes (despite our adding scope on a couple of items) and budget We especially appreciated:
• Brett’s knowledge regarding plants, landscaping and hardscaping
• Brett meeting with us at several locations to select various plants and hardscaping options.
• Brett’s knowledge about the ability of plants to survive in various conditions
• The attention to detail by Brett and his crew. Although Brett was very knowledgeable about possible pitfalls with these efforts, his crew members noticed additional items as they were completing their work. Brett (and the crew member) would discuss these matters with us, and we would agree on a path forward.
We are really pleased with all of the work completed by Landscape Solutions. We continue to hire Landscape Solutions for maintenance, and we are planning to hire Brett and his crew for some additional upgrades to our home.“

“Cleaning your trees is like a good fall or spring house cleaning. The elm was stretched up and out to the surrounding walls. The jacaranda was years overdue. Shaping and thinning was perfect on both trees. I am very, very pleased with the quality of work. The crew and Chuck met all my expectations and more.“

“We had some hedges that had outgrown their original stakes and were leaning after some wind we had a few weeks ago.
I hired Gilberto to source, install, and tie off my hedges to some 3” diameter wooden stakes. About a dozen hedges just outside my fence.
Gilberto was responsive and fair on the price. He came out about 2 days after we agreed on the costs and he finished the job in an afternoon.

“It was the year 2010. It was time. Time to get rid of the lawn and embrace a drought-tolerant front yard with indigenous plants. And it would be cool to have a "blue" theme to go with our new roof. “San Diego Design and Build are owned by two brothers Oscar and Steve who have done several small to medium sized jobs for me in the past. They are very competitive with their bids and as contractors go, I found them to be very friendly and accommodating individuals. So, when I needed a studio built on my property, I already knew they were the go-to guys. “When we first started looking for companies to do another landscape design and landscape construction we were recommended to Landscape contractor Jeff Wilson of Wilson Woodscape.

We had used another company for a project in the past and just were not satisfied at the end of the it all.

The first time meeting Jeff you will walk away from that conversation with an overall impression that this guy really knows what he is talking about, and he does.

He will ask you questions and present possibilities that you hadn't thought of. Insuring that most all the issue that could come up have been addressed and a plan is in place to address it.

We had a pile of dirt for a front yard and we knew what we wanted.

We had an idea for mid century modern landscapes like you would see in Palm Springs and had done research on it and presented Jeff with what we were looking for.

Once we hired Jeff, his Landscape designer architect and he came out and talked to us for a couple of hours took many measurements and went off and put together a plan and a design, you can see it on his site.

We had a lot going on from stone masonry, walkway landscaping, driveway installation, outdoor step construction, retaining walls, hardscape, outdoor lighting, irrigation installation, custom concert work.

He is always a step ahead. Whatever question that you come up with he has already thought of it and planed it out. So when you come up him with a couple of new ideas after the project has started he is ready for it. He has to be the best landscaping contractor in San Diego, at least I think so and the final product speaks for itself.

The finished product was beyond our expectation. We have people stop in their cars to ask us who did the work and can they get their number. This was happening at least once a week for about 9 months after the project.

“We hired Jeff Cleator, President of Cleator Landscape Design to create a beautiful and clean design concept for new landscaping that would be sustainable and cohesive with the Mission Hills environment. Jeff always responded quickly to our questions, sent a detailed rendering of his design, along with photos of all the plants he recommended. “We had a very old irrigation system with 4 valves we had to manually turn on. John used what existing wiring we had, fixed and replaced what was needed and now it’s all on a timer. His knowledge of watering fruit trees versus palm trees was very helpful. He stuck to his initial quote and got the job done in 2 days. I highly recommend John’s Lawn & Garden.“

Details: We had our backyard completely redone because it was chopped up in small unusable sections and it was just generally a mess. We had three different estimates to do the job and they all came in roughly the same price. So what was the difference? Helena’s vision and communication. She was able to quickly see what our yard could look like and help us see it too.

But while we were impressed with Helena’s creativity, the good vibes didn’t stop there. As the project went on, if there was something we weren’t 100% happy with, Helena was sure to work with us to make it right. The biggest example of this? The pavers that we had purchased ended up coming from two different batches/lots and so when they were installed there was a bit of a color mismatch that wasn’t really visible until after it was all laid out. After a full install of the pavers, we asked Helena about the slight mismatch and she agreed that it could look better. She went to her supplier, fought for us to get new pavers, and reinstalled the pavers all at no cost to us even though most contractors would have argued that it was close enough or thrown their hands up and said sorry, not my fault. She is someone you want in your corner.

As we went through our project, there were a few unexpected hiccups, but nothing major. Each time something would come up though, Helena would suggest multiple solutions, and if we chose a solution that would add some additional cost due to increased labor and materials from what we originally planned, we always felt that Helena was fair and reasonable with her price adjustment. Best of all, it was easy to talk to her if at any point we weren’t satisfied with something or how things were going.

It’s been about six months since our yard was finished and we are so pleased with how it all turned out. Plan to upload before and after pictures later, but don’t currently have them. The transformation was amazing though and me and my family have loved actually using our yard to its fullest potential!“
