In a word, "FANTASTIC!" Upon entering this office for the first time, the courteous and friendly staff greeted me as if I had been a patient for many years. When I provided the eyeglasses that I was wearing to the Office Manager ("Jennifer")--not only did she clean them--but she also repaired the broken earpiece that I had been told by my previous optometrist was "irreparable." Then a comprehensive eye examination was performed by several members of the office staff--including a digital scan of my eyes that allows a chronological database of eye health to be maintained over time. The final part of the exam was performed by Dr. Ruzicka himself--whose vast knowledge and experience in eye healthcare became apparent throughout the exam. Despite my numerous questions throughout the eye exam, Dr. Ruzicka patiently and candidly answered all the questions that I posed to him. After the exam, I met with another staff member who fitted me for eyeglasses--and the entire visit concluded with how it started--with "Jennifer" completing the eyeglass adjustment and completing the financial aspects of the office visit. In summary--Dr. Ruzicka's practice is a model for how all medical practices should operate--with professionalism and the utmost attention and care being provided to all clients who walk through the door to Dr. Ruzicka's office. (Aside: When I returned for another visit to pick-up my new eyeglasses--which were perfect(!)--"Jennifer" graciously fixed yet another broken pair I had at home!) Kudos and a heartfelt "thank you" to Dr. Ruzicka, Jennifer, and all other staff members who provided such an outstanding level of care and service to me during my visits to their office. I look forward to being a patient for many years to come! Thank you...THANK you...THANK YOU!

I saw doctor Ruzicka and had a great experience. I have a lazy eye and have a history of eye problems in my family; my dad had a sudden detachment of his retina fairly early in life. I was born with a lazy eye and was subjected to patching of the good eye back in the 80s as a child. The bad eye has gotten worse and I was afraid of not passing my dmv test, getting a crossed eye, or having a sudden detachment myself. He was understanding of the fact that I didn't want to patch as a child and how traumatizing that is socially for a child to deal with in the 80s. He was honest that it probably didn't help much. This is consistent with what I have read in my own research. He was reassuring that my good eye is still good, and how it is the asset that my brain favors. He was honest about how no surgery will help that, but that I don't need to worry so much about it because if something happens to my good eye, the other will take over and become stronger. He knew that I had a ton of anxiety over my eyes when I came in and was comforting about it. He didn't try to sell me on anything unnecessary. And he took the time to answer my questions about how come the patch didn't work when I was a kid back then. He was patient and happy to explain a few things that I asked him about. Just minus a star for not taking medi-cal. I think all offices should take it. The wait list for free or lower-cost care if you are very low-income is insane and made it so I would not have been able to get any help if I couldn't scrape together the $169 for an exam myself. It is sad that paying out of pocket makes such a big difference in care and makes it seem so amazing to be able to actually get an appointment and be seen so quickly.
