The only reason I am not giving this review anything less than 4 stars is because I do not want a bad experience to reflect the entire business. I have been a customer at Paty’s since the previous location on Palm Ave. I never book appointments, I just walk in and wait my turn for a haircut. I do not speak Spanish but when I communicate to anyone that is primarily a Spanish speaker they always understand my requests during the haircut and I am happy with my visit. This is the only barber shop I go to. I go to this barber shop about 6-7 times a year. I enjoy their pricing and I always get the scissor cut ($13&up). On average I get charged $13-15, sometimes $17, per visit and I always tip the barber $5. The most I paid for a visit was $23(including $5 tip). Today, the barber that cut my hair communicates with the person at the register (I don’t know much Spanish to understand the conversation)and I was told my fee was $25. I asked why so much for a scissor cut. The response I received was because I had long hair. My hair is curly and I can only estimate that my hair is usually 4-5inches at most when I go. ( I have no idea what constitutes long hair for a male or in general) After I questioned what I was being charged for, the price was changed to $20. Regardless I paid the $25 and tipped $5. I am still trying to figure out why I was being charged twice the price of a regular scissor cut.(Time is not a factor, it’s the same amount of time I spent on previous services~20-30min) The reason why I remained stubborn and paid the initial amount I was told and not the $20 adjustment for an odd reason, was because I do not wish to be viewed as the customer that undercuts a charge on a visit. Also one of the barbers I often see at my work place I am often acquainted with knows me and some co-workers. I would still recommend this place, but after today I might be considering if I will come here on my next visit.
