Master Matthew of Chino Taekwondo is an exceptional Taekwondo instructor. As a Korean who moved to the United States at the age of 16 and now a father in my mid-40s, I have been practicing Taekwondo since kindergarten and am currently a third-degree black belt master. I never imagined that such a great Taekwondo school would be right in front of my house. When my son turned four during the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to bring him to Master Matthew's school. Initially, my son was very shy and hesitant to start, but now, at the age of six, he is excited and determined to attend regularly. Master Matthew's teaching style is outstanding from a Korean perspective. The Taekwondo instructors I trained under were very strict, rarely smiled, and were quite intimidating. In contrast, Master Matthew is more educational, gentle, and has a fantastic ability to connect with children. He creates a positive and encouraging learning environment that has greatly benefited my son. I am impressed by how well he balances discipline with kindness, making the classes both effective and enjoyable for the students. I highly recommend Master Matthew to anyone looking for a top-notch Taekwondo instructor. His dedication and expertise make him an invaluable asset to our community, and I am grateful to have found such an excellent Taekwondo school for my family.
Confidence, joy, compassion. I don't call out other reviewers but that Jeney person probably has a snowflake kid or is ill-behaved, the coaches/masters have NEVER been hit or "disciplined". Listen, I took taekwondo as a kid, back in the 90s, in the San Fernando Valley. David Park was his name. He gave us knuckle sandwiches (flicking his finger against our forehead) when we misbehaved. I wasn't afraid of him (he was just as loving and playful as anyone, but when it came to business, he was all business). No caning but honestly, the thought probably crossed his mind. The master here is NOTHING like my master was, in terms of life lessons, instilling confidence, and having fun (and by the way, my master was still all of that, just with a lil "tough love" thrown in). Ok, enough "nostalgic, back in my day" talk. This place is a beacon for the community, you can grab a treat next door at Stater Bros while your kiddo practices their forms and board-breaking, and it's got good wifi so you can amble away on your phone while they're running around the dojo mat. Highly recommended.
Great TKD school with a very patient master. Master Mathew pays attention to all the students to ensure they get the proper training with the right amount of discipline and care. Would recommend if you're looking for a TKD school for the family.
