tl;dr - Kevin and his team at Innovative did an absolutely fabulous job replacing and insulating the roof of our Northridge Midcentury Modern.We moved from Simi to Northridge recently and we knew it was "hot in the valley". What we did not account for was that the Midcentury Modern home we purchased (before it got hot) had zero roof insulation. Looking back, it should have been obvious that there was nothing above the tongue and groove exposed rafter ceiling in the living room, but lessons have been learned. When it started to get hot for a few days it became painfully obvious that the A/C unit was not going to be able to keep up with the warmth that was radiating through the roof unless we set the thermostat at about 84 degrees. For those that are curious, 117 degrees at the vaulted ceiling inside the house.We called Kevin after getting a referral and the first thing he said was, "Oh, you must have a Midcentury Modern in the valley" .. yep, you guessed it. Over the next several weeks, Kevin walked through all the various ways we could solve or problem, answered in detail the many questions I had about the process, materials, and my overall expectations of the finished project.Things that I very much appreciated about Kevin's approach- answered all my basic questions and concerns with patience and detail- explained how he has insulated / solved similar problems for commercial buildings other exposed beam residential homes, and the success that was achieved- was on-time and present during the demo and subsequent work- worked hand in hand with his crew, took their input and adjusted accordinglyBefore the demo had started, I also contracted with an insulation company as we also wanted to insulate several rooms with vaulted drop ceilings. The expectation was that there was zero insulation between the roof and the top of the ceiling (they were hot to the touch), and that proved to be correct. I arranged for the insulation team to show up the morning after demo, and Kevin ensured that he would have part of his team available to remove ceiling boards to allow for blown-in insulation, but he also worked with the insulation team to verify all area's of concern were handled, and then had the roof decking replaced. The result was immediately apparent, internal temps went way down, even before the radiant barrier plywood and roof tiles were done.Our roof was finished in just over a week (about a week before it got really hot, fantastic timing), 4 inches of space/insulation was added across the entire roof, along with a solar venting fan and all can say is the results are beyond excellent. Our A/C unit can easily keep up with our needs, and once the house is cool it stays cool, with the A/C kicking on far less frequently than before. And for those keeping score, the internal ceiling temps are around the mid to high 80's!I highly recommend Kevin and his team to anyone looking to have work done on their roof.

We were referred to Innovative by a friend and we are SO glad for it. Kevin showed up exactly when he said he would, gave us a quick assessment of some roof repair, a great price (beating two other estimates we had) and told us when his crew would be by to do it. They showed up on time, did a wonderful job and we couldn't be happier. Best case scenario!
