House of Blends Barber Shop

I went to House of Blends for the first time today with my 11-year old son. We had an incredible experience. Alvin did a masterful job and was a great conversationist with a humble demeanor. Kelly cut my son's hair and made him feel very comfortable and at ease. My son said "House of Blends is like Disneyland for my hair!". We will definitely come back.

I've got nothing but great things to say about House of Blends. Finding a local barber shop has been a challenge. So much so that I usually just use a Pitbull and razor for the dome and face, but can't do it as cleanly as a pro. I do have a barber I like, but he's in my home away from home in Boston, so it doesn't do me any good when I need to get a fresh cut here in SoCal. Thanks to some yelping I discovered HoB, and decided to give them a try. Called on a Thursday morning and asked if they did walk ins, and the answer was yes, not a problem at all, and I set up an appointment with Justice for the the next day. Friday rolls around and I head over. The place is literally around the corner from home, and next door to my favorite local Chinese spot I've been going to for years, but I'd never noticed this shop. Walking in I was impressed; nice clean shop with a hip vibe and friendly staff. I got in a bit early and had to wait for Justice to finish up with a client in his chair, but no worries, I killed some time watching March Madness on the shop TV. Justice finished up, and invites me to take the chair. I get settled in and we exchange pleasantries. Super cool dude, and took time to get an idea of what I wanted. I'm pretty simple, with a zero shave up top, and a face shave and mustache and goatee trim. Justice went to work, making small talk during the process. I felt comfortable during the entire time I was in the chair, and totally relaxed. Justice used trimmers for most of the cut, since even though I love a good hot towel razor shave, I've been having issues with razor bumps lately, and when I advised him of that he concurred, only using a razor and gel for the final lineup on the beard. I gotta say that lineup was laser sharp, and I looked like a new man when I looked into the mirror at the end. Definitely check these guys out if you need a fresh cut or trim.

Donnalyn is the madam barber I love having take care of me in the professional manner of cutting hair. She is easy to talk to, considerate, and I find her no-nonsense vibe relatable.
