John was very helpful and thorough in figuring out a match to some old hardwood flooring I needed replacement boards for. I would definitely shop at Castro Valley Lumber again in the future.

Do not recommend and will not visit again. The place looks dilapidated and run down. The owner seemed quite disinterested in doing any business. The first questions he asked me was - What do you want? Why are you here!? Did not want me to enter the shop to look around and drove me away from the doorsteps saying that the quantity I wanted is too small. Not worth wasting time here, there are a lot more better options.

Rude, arrogant, and unhelpful. Gave them a second chance and they haven’t changed. Would be almost acceptable if their prices were fair but they’re not. Take your business to Larsen Lumber in San Leandro. Honestly don’t know how this place is still in business.
