    What business does a 38 year old working mom of 2 have joining jiu jitsu? I’ll tell you. About a month ago I was getting my daughter ready for her dance competition. We were at our car across the street from the venue in downtown Sacramento when a man approached us. Not knowing his intention but not taking any risks I immediately put my hands out and firmly and loudly stated “NO. STAY AWAY.” I had to repeat it several times but he finally turned away and kept walking.     My son started taking classes at Crosley Gracie Jiu Jitsu in November of 2021. The positive effects were almost immediate, both in major ways and smaller gestures. He had more confidence, better hand/eye coordination, he didn’t mumble when he spoke, and he looked you in the eye.The entire family began to follow the same patterns my son was learning. Identify a goal, pursue it every day in every way, achieve the goal, find the path to the next level, and so on.     My family has been on a journey with Crosley Gracie jiu-Jitsu Academy for about 7 years. My oldest son Noah was the first on the mat. He came struggling with self confidence and without understanding of how, or when to protect himself. I watched him grow exponentially under Professor Ryan’s quiet steady leadership. He gained confidence and appropriate assertiveness.My you younger son Zach had been a wrestler for years until Covid hit. He’s one of those kids with an endless motor in his butt.
