Have any of you been burned out from eyeglass stores like LensCrafters which charge too much for eyeglasses? As someone who used to go to LensCrafters per a previous company's vision coverage, I found Warby Parker to be a breeze by comparison. Not only are they significantly better than LensCrafters, they also know how to serve customers better. -The eye exam is cheap, even if your vision coverage doesn't cover it. -Eyeglass frames are affordable, even if your vision coverage doesn't cover it. I heard about Warby Parker on the Freakonomics podcast. The podcast episode explored why eyeglasses are so expensive, blaming it on the monopolistic dominance of one company, Luxoticca. It then interviewed entrepreneurs who created Warby Parker as a realistically-priced online alternative.
I was ready to try the Warby Parker online model, but discovered that the company also has a retail store near me. I stopped by, and with the graceful assistance of a knowledgeable salesperson, purchased stylish prescription sunglasses. I stopped into this location just to have my pair of Warby Parkers fixed, since one of the arms came unscrewed. I was greeted warmly and promptly, and was on my way with my fixed glasses in 10 minutes.
