    As a chronically ill neurodivergent student of color who is perceived as a woman, I have had to repeatedly advocate for myself at UHS (look up the word "access fatigue.") For example, I had delayed treatment for my most recently diagnosed chronic illness, which was cutting off my ability to function after around 3pm every day, for an entire semester, because the first doctor I saw about it at the beginning of the semester misdiagnosed me and wanted to talk about my "health anxiety" instead (he also started talking asking about my home town which seems very irrelevant.)     "My doctor messed up my prescription because she didn't read the separate notes about adjusting my anxiety medication. When I'm told, 'No, you have to see a doctor,' by the office staff but the advice nurse authorized a new dosage increase, no one in the office reads the messages while I tried to advocate for myself. Now I'm labeled as having anger issues diagnosis in their system. It's worse than Kaiser and sounds like mental health is not a priority ." It's easier to not get prescriptions and rely on lemon balm for anxiety.

    The nurses and MDs are wonderful. Unfortunately, after going to the pharmacy multiple times, I have witnessed the pharmacy staff be needlessly rude to myself and others. On one occasion, the staff talked trash about a customer loud enough for the whole waiting room to hear as soon as the customer left. It is extremely unprofessional.
