I honestly cannot understand the bad reviews of this office. We are first time parents and both the office staff and the doctors have been incredible. Dr. Gerwein is our son's primary but we were also seen by Dr. Brinkley when she was rounding at the hospital. Both doctors are incredibly knowledgeable and responsive to even the slightest concern. We have never had any trouble getting an appt., even a couple last minute ones, and, to top it all off, their office has an INCREDIBLE lactation consultant, Amrit Khalsa (48 years of experience, including as a midwife) and they moved heaven and earth to make sure we were seen by her when we were struggling with breastfeeding. And she is covered by our insurance with only a $37 copay! Kudos to this practice for providing access to 360 degree, holistic care (they are only 1 of 3 practices in all of the East Bay that employ a lactation consultant). We feel so lucky we found this team!
We were referred to Bayside from our Doula and see Dr. Gerwin and Amrit the location consultant and have had great experiences so far; including with the on-call Dr's, we saw in the hospital or on Saturdays. Highly recommend seeing Amrit the location consultant - she helped us work on our latch, keep my milk supply up after diagnosing a tongue which was a game-changer for breastfeeding once resolved. The office staff has always been great. Sure the building is old and stuffy, but that's not why we go there and many many medical buildings in Oakland and Berkeley are old.
