I have found Alward Construction to be such a class act. Along with work they did on my house, they poured the perimeter foundation for my accessory building 10-plus years ago. Shortly after that, I needed to put the accessory building build on hold. Recently, upon resuming the accessory building build (on my own), it came to my attention that a hold-down was missing. It truthfully felt odd and embarrassing, on my part, to reach out to Alward Construction after so many years, But I did. Mark was understanding and treated the situation as if they had poured the foundation last week. Not only did they come out to install the bolt, Mark sent Rafael, the builder who was the Lead on the my project more than 10 years ago and Rafael's right hand person from more than 10 years ago! I was grateful and impressed by how Alward Construction has managed to retain these excellent builders and how Mark, without hesitation, stood by the work they did more than a decade ago.
Unbeknownst to us, our flat roof had been collecting water for some time, and while we were away, the water began leaking into our home. The damage was significant; we completely lost a bedroom and much of our kitchen (ceilings, walls, wood floors, built-in cabinets, etc). The estimate from our insurance company didn't cover the estimated cost we got from Alward Construction. However, we loved Alward and wanted to get started so we hired them anyway to make the repairs. A few weeks into the project, Covid hit, and we made the decision to escape to Tahoe while the repairs were being made. While the rest of us safely sheltered in place, Alward took all the necessary precautions, worked incredibly hard through Covid, and completed the job ... and made a number of upgrades to our house. And if that wasn't enough, our project manager recommended a great lawyer who helped us get the money from our insurance company to pay for 100% of the damage repairs. We could not be happier with Alward and look forward to using them again on future projects!
I hired Alward Construction, because a friend had known of Keith Alward for years, and because my architect also thought they were a solid company. I knew Keith Alward was semi-retired. However, the team that still carries his name was terrific.I bought a 100+-year-old fixer-upper home. Before moving in, I wanted to get it ready for the next 100 years by strengthening it seismically, remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms, and creating a master suite. Alward Construction remodeled my house from the foundation to the roof and everything in between while being careful to preserve the craftsman charm that I didn't want to change. I'd recommend Alward Construction to anyone who wants a really professional snd high-quality job, with great management and accountability from start to finish.
