This place does not have a decent chair in the room, patients are expected to remain in the bed 24 hours, if they want to sit in a chair they only have metal folding chairs for all patient and visitors, I would never allow another family member to be sent there.
Spouse admitted from Twin Cities Community Hospital post-CVA. He was independent with ADLs with set up. Virtually no CNA rounds. During two week stay there was no set up for AM or PM care or meals. We were told he would receive showers every other day. Second day he showered with OT assistance. By day nine he had only showered once. When I requested a shower I was told he was to shower on 'even' number days which did not happen. With persistence, the nurse took him to the shower on an 'odd' day over a weekend. Basic nursing care pretty much non-existent. Almost non-stop noise, even with door closed the conversations were so loud in the hallway I could follow them. Every morning by 11am I arrived to find him with no set up for AM care. I set him up for AM care every morning and had him complete PM care before I left. One morning he was in group therapy and I found him completely disheveled. Linens would not have been changed in that two week stay except that I asked for linens to change them myself. Dignity Health certainly did not live up to it's name as we felt there was very little dignity during his stay. In contrast, PT, OT and SLP could not have been better. Excellent care and encouragement throughout his stay. We both felt the therapists cared about him and pushing him to reach his potential before discharge. If not for the therapy care I would have rated the care one star instead of three.
Unfortunately, we had some disappointing things happen at the Acute Rehab in Arroyo Grande Hospital. My 92 year old aunt was placed here after hip & leg fractures. The admitting staff we spoke with was reassuring that she would be allowed to work at her pace through their thrice daily PT sessions. It soon became apparent that this would not be a good fit for my aunt. The nurses we talked to seemed caring & competent and the staff worked with us to find a better facility for my aunt. What soured us in our experience was what we discovered after her transfer. Within 24 hours of being moved to a different facility, my aunt was taken to French Hospital ER & diagnosed with thrush, pneumonia, a level 2+ pressure wound & congestive heart failure. The status of her health supplied to the new facility was woefully lacking in specificity. Even though she had been telling the staff at AG for about a week that she was having difficulty breathing, trouble swallowing, and a sore throat they gave none of this info to the new facility & downplayed her dymptoms. To cap it off, when her personal items were packed up in three hospital bags, her iPhone was thrown in with liquid items & ruined. When the staff was questioned about this, they blamed my aunt (she was not physically capable of packing up her personal belongings). I can not recommend this facility for rehab.
