I got to know Gary really well during the year that we worked on finding me a permenant home. He knows his stuff -- as is obvioius from his numerous posting on real estate related internet discussion boards -- and he is more than willing to teach newbies like me the ins and outs of the market. There's an advertisement on TV right now for some real estate company that has two women (the buyer and agent) talking. The buyer says to the agent something like "wow, you were great, you took me to see something like 20 homes before we found my dream house." The agent smiles and says something like "well actually it was more like 30." They smile, it fades to black. Gary often took me to see something like 10-15 homes IN ONE DAY. Now, imagine how much time he spent with me in a year. Wow, all that when he knew I was only looking for a cheap ($50,000) Detroit house. Real estate is a second career for Gary; he used to manage a water treatment plant and has great stories about his work there (ask him about the floating dead body!). All in all, he's great!
